In other words, he gives us faith in the holy spirit & the acceptance, the humility in the Holy scriptures, and the purity to keep righteous, in our actions . Your example was awesome, and picturesque, thanx .

Magnificent explanation! Loved the visual image of the dirty sheep getting washed, and Jesus the Lamb soaking up the sins. Thank you!

Did those who were baptized through John’s baptism really have their sins forgiven?
and were they really regenerated and saved?

Or was all that symbolical, and only effectual after Jesus’ death and resurrection?

The picture of the filth coming onto the pure sheep was very moving.

How do you respond when people say that scripture says you need to REPENT and be BAPTIZED, how can an infant repent?

Jesus Christ was made under the Law to fulfill all righteousness. - Galatians 4:4; Luke 2:21-24; Matthew 5:17
That way those that were in the Law could be redeemed by Grace when he started his ministry (priestly service).
He could then after death go to Hell and Preach to the Prisoners because he fulfilled the Law being made from the woman in the flesh in the Law, fulfilling the commandments, and then being the first fruit of the resurrection in Grace. - Galatians 4:5; 1 Peter 3:19
To be a priest a man could not start the service of the Priesthood until he was 30 years old. -Numbers 4:3; Luke 3:23
He had to be washed and that was the baptism for Christ. - Leviticus 8:5, 6; Matthew 3:15, 16
How do we know?
He knew no sin. - 2 Corinthians 5:17
He did no sin. - 1 Peter 2:22
He was without sin. - Hebrews 4:15
In him was no sin. - 1 John 3:5
Jesus Christ was not baptized for sin, but for the Priesthood.
He being the seed of Judah, Judah could not enter the priesthood, But Jesus Christ was made in an eternal priesthood after the order of Melchisedec.- Hebrews 7:11-22
This was the reason why Jesus Christ was baptized. - Matthew 3:16, 17

Does the pastor have to baptize the individual coming into the church or can a lay person baptize??

However, I would say thay Jesus already started his work as the redeemer when he was born. In Gal.4.4-5 Paul writes that Son was born under the Law, that is, under everything the Law declares to sinners. That to me also includes carrying the sins of the World. Thus, John the Baptist already calls Christ the Lamb of God even before his baptism.

Have I understood correctly?

My answer is: Jesus Christ is an example and living parable BUT mainly Because in the natural, the world or earth was baptized with water when God came close to ending His creations, but He made a way and Jesus Ministry mirrors that even with the two by two and many other waya. Also, the Raven didn't do its job and roams to and fro, much like we read of Satan doing the same. The Dove brought the olive branch that is used for oil that consecrates and so the circle of ideas is a complete. It's similar to Moses wasn't supposed to strike the Rock because it was pointing to Jesus, in that same vein, Jesus had to be Baptized, and like a babe comes out of the water of the mom, He emerged ready to be given the spirit which was His anointing as Messiah but later He has a special oil anointing as High Priest. Anyhow, Holy Spirit descended upon Him to give back the Spirit of God that was once breathed I to Adam but lost by Adam.

Jesus has to and had to fulfill all previous scripture because they are God's Promise and story ABOUT Jesus the Messiah and how we recognize Him. The Holy Spirit is likened unto a Dove, the Bride in Song of Solomon is likened unto a Dove and the motif is in other places of the Bible too. In the End, the world will be Baptized in Fire. Jesus Christ already did the Fiery Furnace turned up 7 times and the reciprocity then goes back to the Earth. It's a common precept that what happens in the natural has a counter occurrence or mirror occurrence in the spiritual, aka supernatural, and vice versa. Also, things tend to repeat for emphasis, as signs of completeness, and to clarify to the connectedness for the curious scholar. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing ...be a long and queen joint heirs in Christ and search it out, reveal it with study and prayer.

John's baptism was a baptism of repentance, to prepare hearts for Jesus. Jesus baptizes us for the forgiveness of sin. These 2 baptisms are not the same. Acts 19, believers are re-baptized into Christ, after Jesus dies for our forgiveness. Jesus is baptized by John because it is the right thing to do. He is demonstrating that John's baptism is good and right because the Messiah is coming. We can prepare our hearts when we repent of daily sins and remember and trust the forgiveness of the cross.
