For those of you who struggle with this; did this video help? Are you guilty of any of the things I pointed out?

I’m still learning but one thing that has helped me is changing my perspective on how fast I need to learn everything. Of course this doesn’t work for everyone but realizing that you don’t have to learn a specific thing by a certain time helps.

Instead, I simply tell myself I will keep on trying my best to learn this concept or material and I will get it when I get it.

We all have different perspectives and personalities and I’m sure that plays a role in learning. Some things we may pick up extremely fast while other times it will be slow. It’s more important to keep moving, one foot in front of the other.

I've had multiple 'get real moments' over the past few months, but I finally landed my first software development job! I start in about two weeks ^.^

Really appreciate your insight Andy. We all struggle and not everyone is equal when learning. Some just get it and some take longer to learn. We all began somewhere. Never give up. See you soon Andy!

Struggling right now with returning list comprehensions/functions in python as a self-taught. Been a day already. And I still have a 12-hour job four days a week to manage. Starting to get frustrated. Thanks for the point Andy..

I feel my brain turn to mush mush.. Everytime I hear another tutorial I got sleepy RIGHT AWAY!! I feel so stupid.
But then I redo the exercise in that tutorial over and over again until I can do it myself and I got so excited.
And repeat to another tutorial. It's a struggle allright :D

Andy always has such practical & down to earth advise. He talks calmly and to the point without a lot of false hype & salesmanship. I have 10 years professional dev experience, but watching these videos somehow helps motivate me too. Thanks for all your work!

Great video. I think another great point for inclusion is to START SMALL! Find some thing simple and manageable that relates directly to thins you want to do in life. Too often people want to go from zero to VR, full-immersion, cutting edge in a year. Even if it's just learning how to modify someone else's code and there is utility to that thing in your life, you begin to establish that short-term positive feedback loop necessary for motivation towards continued progress.

I've been able to manage my personal time to study web development pretty well lately, but my real struggle actually is that I only have time late at night, around 10 or 11 PM, and have to wake up every day at 6:30AM. Sometimes my mind is so tired from the work day that is hard to focus in the subject I'm trying to learn.

Nice thumbnail man! Hey, I'm a 14 year old who wants to become a part-time software engineer at 16. I will likely have to work remotely because there aren't many jobs in my city. I just wanna say thank you for helping me out 🙌

As always, your videos are very insightful and inspiring. I work full time and have small children so while I try to start studying at the same time every evening, I sometimes don't get started until 10pm. I always push for 2 hours during the week and a total of 5 hours (not back to back) on weekends. I know I have a long way to go because I have only been consistently studying for about 3 months. I am learning HTML and CSS and plan to incorporate JS next month. One thing that sort of discourages me is when I search entry level job postings for software developers or front end developers in my area, it has so many additional requirements other than HTML, CSS, JS, Framework, and Git. It makes me feel like there's no light at the end of the tunnel. Either way, I won't give it.

Hello Andy, thank you for making these videos, they always help me to follow my path and to stay on the grind, I'm currently on about 5 month streak with only missed like two days in total, I've been learning for about a year now but when I do do it everyday it really makes a difference.

I'm about to finish creating my second application ever, all by myself and all that I need now is to find a way to save the data :D, it is a to do list. It's been a fun journey so far and I don't think I'll ever stop doing programming.

Definitely feel this. The struggle is real. Was struggling for days on a certain problem involving loops, but kept at it and finally solved it. Was a good moment. Overall, though, re Personal Management, I want to be person 2, but have a lot of person 1 days, getting distracted throughout. Although, when I sit down, the Pomodoro method really works in keeping me focused. Thanks for the advice.
