God Doesn’t Want You To Go To Church.

So many opinions! Yet no one is addressing the passages!

If we are to avoid the path of evil men (Proverbs 4) and avoid the councel of the ungodly, (Psalm 1:1) and church leadership admits to being sinful and evil, why would you listen to their teaching and advice? What can a wicked sinner teach you about righteousness that he knows nothing about?

Getting advice from sinners about following Christ is like getting advice on marriage from someone who's never been married. If you think I'm twisting these passages I am all ears.

The Church are the believers not a building. The gathering together should be worship and sound doctrine teaching. True most congregations are being led astray by false teachers so we must test every spirit with the Word. But true Christians ( The Church ) must come together for encouragement, edification, and teaching. Make sure your gathering together is Spirit led and the true Word is being taught. Colin is correct in that you can not congregate with false churches because you will be counted among them by God

Actually, the church was never meant for the unsaved but for the saved ones. God's holy people are to go out to the world, to live holy lives, preach the gospel, pray for the wicked and let the holy spirit convict the sinner of their sin and to lead them onto repentance. Churches nowadays are not acting this way, instead, it became a business and God's holy name have been tremendous blasphemed.

Church most of the time turns people away because they like to feel the need to condemn. It’s gods job to condemn. It’s our job to love

If we’re the church, why do we need to go to church? I’ve been to church since 1985 and don’t feel any closer to God.

I'm from a non Christian family but I started to have faith since I was 15, now I'm 23. Recently I got baptized but when first time I went to the church, I was disappointed with the fellow people because of their worship. Everybody seems to be religious, not more people were eager to hear God's message. The fact I realised is, " it doesn't matter if you love God or not but if you want to marry a Godly woman then you must prove the Church people that you are a Godly person simply by attending their church every Sunday " this is so saddening

I think it's all about us having a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and God the Father and our walk with Holy Spirit. I can't say for sure if we have to go to church or not. I'm from Scotland and I do not know all the issues with American Christianity so I can't judge your attitude. I have a small Church with great leadership and a fellowship with my brother's and sister's. And I think we need relations with other fellow Christians because at the end of the day Coilin we will be the ones who will enjoy everlasting life with our Lord together. And we can do many good things in churches if we see that there is something not right. We are more than conquerors. We are soldiers in Christ even is churches. God bless you brother.

This is So True! I was born into a church with the Hierachcy of titled men telling me what to believe..and I was so mislead..I suffered for many years trying to live to their commandments..and was never taught the Truth. I Know NOW! I Seek Jesus..ALONE..for my Help. Now things work well..but we must Forgive all the Lost years!

I agree with Colin. Here are some additional reasons not to go to a church today:
1. The churches in America have stopped preaching the Teachings of Jesus. When was the last time you heard a lesson on selling all your possessions and giving the proceeds to the poor as a condition of being Jesus' disciple?;
2. The Western American Church is not an example of what Christian gatherings are to be--there was no PAID PROFESSIONAL PREACHER in the early church--every believer is to bring a gift to the gathering. When the churches will let the 'audience' stand up and preach then i will consider returning;
3. Many of the so-called churches are all about M-O-N-E-Y. WHY DO YOU THINK YOUR PASTOR OWNS HIS OWN CHURCH AND ALL THE BUILDINGS AND ALL THE LAND AND ALL THE EQUIPMENT YOU SO GENEROUSLY BUY FOR HIM? Ask yourself--who has a bigger net worth--you or your pastor? If the answer is your pastor, then why are you giving HIM money? Give it to the POOR!
4. The Sabbath is for REST, not more motion, getting dressed, and going somewhere. Take the day OFF-- go to the park and worship God there. Thank Him for His beauty and for your life and breath. Tell God YOURSELF you love Him!

Read all of Hebrews 10, meditate on verses 24-25. Jesus ministered to the lost. He didn’t come for the righteous but the lost.

According to this logic, you shouldn't mingle with anyone but should live alone because everyone is a sinner. By the way, I think it's okay for christians not to go to church.

Brother Collin, you are talking about not going to a building and people misinterpret what with the true church which means fellowship with each other, helping each other overcome challenges in our lives, helping spread the gospel and be an example in the community, helping others understand the bible and grow in the wisdom of the Lord.
Just like the light shines better through a crystal clear chandelier so we must be for our God, Jesus is light and we shine brighter for the Lord if our life is clear, spotless, sinless for our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen. and Jesus went to the temple until they threw him out and if you are living for Christ openly and you go to a corrupt church they will throw you out too.
