Thank you for this upload!!! +100K for having the same multimeter as I do :D I have a pair of Sony SAVA-7 speakers that have been AWESOME over the years. We recently had a voltage spike from the electric company 😬 Lost my speakers, Air fryer, OG Xbox and window AC unit. I opened the speakers and there is obvious charring around one of the voltage regulators. Hoping that is the fix, but I appreciate your video!!!

can you test for shorts while in circuit? not powered up but soldered in the board

I had a fast charging puck completely stop working. I found the 7350-A regulator had about 2.5V on the output when the input was 5.1V. I briefly bridged the input and output, using an ammeter, as diagnostics. The lights came on and it continued working without anything attached. 🎉 It seems I reset it!? I added a heatsink pad in the open space between the PCB and the aluminum shell to prevent future overheating.

Very helpful thank you. Think I’ve got a faulty SOIC-8 5v voltage regulator and was wondering how you test the output voltage. Is it possible to test directly to the PCB or should it be removed?

Sigh ..does MY voltage regulator have a 7806?? Unlikely, as it's supposed to output just over 14V to the battery.
