I Tried Installing Windows 11 24H2 on Unsupported Hardware So You Don't Have to...
Microsoft recently released the Windows 11 24H2 update and made the 24H2 ISO file available for download on the official Windows 11 downloads page. As you might know, Windows 11 has some hardware requirements that prevents you from installing it on older computers, although there are ways to bypass those checks.

I decided to check which of those methods we used in previous versions of Windows 11 still works on 24H2, and the results were quite surprising.

📌 IMPORTANT NOTE: Windows 11 24H2 only works on processors that come with PopCnt and SSE4.2, there's no workaround if the CPU doesn't support that.

I used the command prompt to update to 24H2 on ALL my machines and it worked perfectly.

The Rufus method does not modify the setup.exe file. The Workaround RUFUS does was never intended to work it the way you initially used it, even with older versions of Windows 11. This is why it DID work after booting to that USB drive since the modification that Rufus made only take effect when booting to it. The whole purpose of Rufus is make ISO files bootable on a USB drive, not to just read files inside ISO image files. Windows can already mount ISOs for that purpose.

hi there, this video is very informative! question tho, what will happen if you do the windows updates? do they just fail or would you have to wait until the next major update to get them? my problem would be that any security issues/holes in windows wouldnt be fixed for along time if this is the case, i have subbed btw, i would like to stay informed with this method as it will definately save me some money as my only requirement for actually getting windows 11 is my 1st gen ryzen processor which is really annoying.

Howdy again.
I feel I need to tell.
My laptop, Fujitsu Siemens Amilo, is so old it has BIOS Legacy startup. 24H2 would not install. The product server starts and begins the install but at reboot the original install is restored.
My work station has UEFI and the install was successful.
Makes sense to me. Microsoft tightens the conditions gradually allowing ample time to consider buying a newer computer. Microsoft also deserves credits for the full restore capability.

Staying 10 strong for the foreseeable future here. Past EOL and likely ESU too. Like i did for 7 until the PC hardware died. And was "forced" to go to 10. Anyways. Us 10s won't go down without a fight to the death! 💪🏻🤓🖖🏻

As an experiment I just clean installed 24H2 to a PC with only TPM v 1.2 ( v 2.0 required) and i7 4th generation CPU ( 8th gen required) and apart from the oobe \bypassnro it went through without issues.

I have installed Windows 11 24H2 on my HP laptop with intel 3rd gen and with no TPM its a completely different method it is done by downloading the Windows 10 ISO and making a bootable pendrive of it and then downloading windows 11 iso and replacing windows 10 install.wim file with windows 11 install.wim and then run the setup... (if the 1st method does'nt work)

to get the most out of this update is to do a fresh install not to update it because the old files will cause lots of unknown error and performance dips

Have you noticed any instability with the system?
Do you still get automatic updates from Microsoft, even if the system hardware isn't supported?

I have secure boot off and have 24h2 installed via fresh install as i have with all my win 11 isntalls, only thing ive needed is TPM (trusted platform module), i dont think it needs to be on but is capable of it.

Did this update via ventoy method as i also have unsupported hardware but after installing windows doesn't detects my hdmi connected monitor audio i tried installing drivers from intel assistant and also tried installing optional updates in windows update section..this doesn't use to happen in windows 10 and rather windows 11 23H2 please help!

What if the processor doesn't support SSE 4.2? I am trying to upgrade my old laptop from 2012 to 24H2 because 23H2 runs great and it came up with this error. Tried everything, but that error remains. Any fix or is it compulsory?
