I had a chance to read this article when it came out and it was interesting as my husband and I have recently been put in a situation where this greatly impacts us. Our landlord has advised he is moving back into our condo and as such we have 60 days to find a new place to live. As we know, the rental market is wild right now with prices for a 1 bedroom with parking in Toronto and the gta (from what we have been seeing) are starting at $2400+. The challenging part in all this is we have a small dog, disqualifying us from many condos due to their rules. We have seen about 8 places so far and settled on an apartment about 40 minutes outside of the city. This proved to be a costly choice as parking was not included in the rent bringing our monthly cost to roughly the exact same as in Toronto and the gta. It is a pet friendly building so this made our choice much easier. We are about 2 years away from buying but now with the increase in rent that we will be paying at our new place, it is looking like this is further than we had anticipated. Unfortunately I don’t see the rental market changing anytime soon due to the interest rates consistent increases. This seems to be the stark reality a lot of Canadians are experiencing right now.

Most people don't work 40 hours a week because workers don't get paid for lunch hours or half hours so they work 37 and a half hours or 35 hours a week.

Does the rent controll condo build date of Nov.2018 change? Or it's always the same. In 10 years will it still be 2018 for rent controll cut off?

If interest rates do go down landlords won't lower rental prices anyways.
