Some of you were curious to understand what's behind the phrase "Hariuha laþu laukar gakar alu ole lule laukar" found in Heilung's song "Othan" from the album Futha. So this video will help you to go through each word and my process of investigation, step by step, until I got to a conclusion. Enjoy!

Hej Arith, you are wrong haha! you are wrong in the sense that Heilung is not watching this ;)
I am part of their “warrior choir” that is mostly known from the live shows, also in the song Othan actually.
So, I cannot speak for the band as a whole, or for Kai, who makes up for the largest part of the lyrical inspiration of the songs; however, I can say that you are very close with your approach in many aspects.
I am an archaeologist myself and sometimes wonder what Kai comes up with. He is a very knowledgeable man but sometimes works from a different perspective than us archaeologists. I will not speak for him here as I simply can’t, but Kai has shown me insights that I wish every archaeologist would see.
Very cool that you made this video Arith. I am a long time follower of yours! and please write me if you want to discuss anything further :)

Hello, my name is Ole and I have always known my name to mean, ancestors. That made me think the ending part is saying "singing the bird magic of (the or our) ancestors(ole)", another thing that stuck out is that one of the meanings of Laguz is water and water is viewed to be one of the ways spirits communicate, sort of like a conduite or gateway. Then since the images indicate Harihua knows dark knowledge and danger leads me to believe that they seek knowledge or guidance from Harihua about the other side or afterlife. So the way I read is;

I am Harihua, I know danger, I bring happiness (or chance.) I speak (or sing) the words of the (our/your) ancestors (lule laukar.)

As for lule it could be the name of a drink like Arith mentioned and since drinks allowed one to see spirits then maybe lule was the preferred drink of Harihua. Lule could also be a name of an ancestral pond.

As the patron who brought this up on the community page - thank you my friend! As a fan of Heilung I enjoy studying their lyrics to further my knowledge on my Scandinavian studies journey.
Wonderful work as always my friend. Tack för idag!

I logged into Youtube just to like this Video! I love the dedication you bring to it. Personally I am more interested in what really happened in our history than in the meaning that Heilung tried to give it whatsoever so I was happy you focused on the artefacts. Thanks a lot for this explanation!

Great thorough exploration of the texts. I'm just starting to learn the runes and it's helpful to see a breakdown like this. I was lucky enough to see Heilung here in the US a few months ago. It was absolutely amazing to experience live, it's much more than just listening.

Just wanted to say thank you I've had a great deal of interest in these magical formulas which began with the Kingmoor ring. Your educated insight on this subject has filled many gaps for me and helped me to understand it far better.

Thank you for explaining this! I have incorporated Heilung's music into my spiritual practice because I've found it conducive to obtaining the right frame of mind, so it is really nice to understand what all of the lyrics mean. Most are pretty easy to find the sources, but this one was an enigma, so thanks for elucidating the historical context. Makes listening to the song more meaningful.

Very interesting video, Arith! Othan is my favorite song from Heilung, and I've always wondered what this sentence means. I like that you show your process! Hope you will do more on Heilung in the future, or maybe even something with them, like an interview or something. That would be really cool! Greetings from Northern-Norway!

I work as a lower level ornithologist sometimes, and I love hearing about birds in a religious sense. A divine bird teaching us to sing and think is pretty darn cool. I also think it's interesting that ancient people seem to have known more about our origins in some scientific ways, seeing as how life emerged from the sea and evolved into higher beings later.

Isn't another name for Óðinn «Yggr» 'the terrible one', as in Yggdrasill, Óðin's horse? The "warrior-terror" may well refer to him. As he also exchanged his eye to gain the wisdom "the dangerous knowledgable one" may well refer to? Although the bracteate saying "hariuha" ends with a triple Tiwaz, it's too close to call whether it should be Týr or Óðinn, as the depiction isn't decisive either.
