Using Audacity to split an audio file into multiple tracks

Thank you! This is EXACTLY what I needed to split up some super-lengthy tracks for audio books. Had been using a free trial version of WavePad, which is easy to use but not terribly inexpensive for the paid version. Hence Audacity it is... and this tutorial makes breaking up the long tracks into manageable ones completely doable. Thanks again!

what if i have long audio book and want to split it into every 10 minutes. can i do it automatic?

Is the play head the vertical line form top-tottom of the screen? I'm legally blind so I'm not srue that's what you mean but I think it is. I can see some. The line that appears when you drag or select a section has something at the top of it which seems to be for dragging. so I'm guessing that's what you're talking about.

Mine are all grayed out as well, the stop button is pressed. Also when I goto analyze I only have three options....contrast, plot spectrum and clipping

To get the first track you have to choose the option audio before the first label.

Audacity 2.3.1, I have no "Add label at selection" option.

The first track label must be inserted at the zero point, because the labels mark the end of an audio clip, not the beginning.
