Audacity - Automatically split an audio file into multiple files using at the quiet/silenced parts

This video demonstrates how we were able to automatically split a large audio file into multiple smaller files at the quiet parts of the audio.

I have figured out how to use Audacity to split a large MP3 file into many smaller files based on predefined length.
However, one to three words are omitted between each file. Is there a way to fix this?

Is there a way to do a batch of files? Audacity and others ((3delite)MP3 Silence Cut, m4b-tool, Auto Cue, WavePad Audio File Splitter, mp3DirectCut) don't seem to support this.

I don't see any standalone program that only does this.. so perhaps it can be done via command-line ( pydub or with ffmpeg/numpy as mentioned on SO 45526996.
