A couple has conflicting opinions about pacifying their kids with tablets at a restaurant.

This is why I really like the restaurants that give out complimentary crayons and activity sheets. All my 4 year old does is scribble but he at least tries to make sense of the activities. Not screen time but keeps him preoccupied.

A good way to deal with limiting kid's screentime is to just not give them electronics until they're older.

it’s a new world we’re living in. how often are parents on the phone? of course kids want the same thing. as long as you limit it, kids will be fine. and as long as you’re doing your best to get them to do other things instead of sitting on your phone then you’re doing alright

Give kids books, toys, art supplies, things like that when they’re bored. Let them play and be creative without a screen. Giving tech to kids just makes it harder for them to learn how to pay attention, be patient, and make their own fun.

This is a problem. And a huge reason kids grow up feeling entitled. And not aware of the world around them. When we were kids, we had to behave in public. Whether or not we had an option of playing with toys.

Growing up we had one tv, in the family room. Wasn’t allowed one in my room.

my mom's friend had to have her grandkids come live with they were wild so i brought card game and color books and stuff like that we sat down and played for hours they just couldn't believe grown up would want to spend time with them children are a blessing don't waste the time you have with them play with them take game to play and have fun or you will miss out on one of the true joys of life

You have to put your foot down when they're very young. You can't let your kids get away with everything. You have to have rules and boundaries. You have to give them "the look" like my mom used to do and the look meant don't push it. Discipline, order, manners and good behavior starts at home and your children have to be exposed around people and different places.
You have to be taught how to act and what you do or don't do in public or at home

Kids should not be on a electronic device at the dinner table. That’s a big No at my house. That’s when it’s family time.
