That's a trick I learned from my Pops. We use bait casters a lot. If you use a bait caster, with line not re-spooled the right way, you'll have "birds nest" with almost every cast. Pops showed me how to do this after he got tired of hearing the f-bomb and a few others that I made up because of a birds nest, and showed me how to avoid it by this same technique. I had a pretty cool Pop. Miss him TONS!

I'll give you a hint as to how I reline. When you take all the line off. Leave about 2ft or so on the bell. Tie the lines together. I do it that way cause my fingers dont exactly into small spots.

I heat my spool after I spool line onto it with a heat gun for a second or two. If there’s line twist that will get ride of it. You can use a hair dryer too.

Will try it out. If duck tape don't work a screwdriver will. LoL

I hate unspooling. I found that if I take an empty spool, attach a long bolt through the spool hole tightly with a washer and nut, chuck the bolt into a drill, and release all drag on the reel I can unspool the reel in a short time onto the empty spool attached to my drill. Beats hand pulling line a yard at a time off a reel or trying to cut all that line off the reel or attaching the line to your neighbor's hitch ball and hoping the line breaks at the end rather than pulling the pole out of your hands.
P.S. I wouldn't advise giving your neighbor any explinations as to why anyone would tie fishing line to their hitch ball.
