the M1 is still an amazing laptop despite the age. The chip is quite fast. Software support is good. And its wedge design feels lite and premium. The price is reasonable too.

apple can run their os with limited hardware because they control both software and hardware. my 2015 Mac air with OCLP runs Sonoma smoothly and handles daily task without issues. m1 will keep getting official updates till 2028 and beyond.intel Macs could run windows with bootcamp natively and m1 Macs can run windows through parallels. m1 used to have swap memory issue but that has been patched.

I am suffering with this m1.I took 2 mac on the same day & I keep facing problem at least twice a year and when u go to there service centre they will directly tell u to replace the display or the whole keyboard without any check and the behaviour of there staffs will be very unprofessional.

Hi brother ...I noticed that Apple is still selling the M1 MacBook Air from 2020. It seems like a pretty good deal for less demanding users. However, when looking at the macOS support table on Wikipedia*, it does not look like the M1 will be able to install many more future macOS versions.

For example, the 2017 MacBook Air supports macOS only up to 2021. That’s five years. If the same ends up being true for the M1, that means that it will stop supporting macOS versions in 2026. In other words, if you get an M1 for Christmas this year, you’ll get two more yearly macOS updates in 2024 and 2025, and that’s it. That seems pretty low, considering that the version of Safari is tied to the version of macOS.

Is there any indication that the M1 will have a longer macOS support period? I feel like I don’t want to buy it unless it supports macOS at least until 2027 (five years from now).
