When Y-Factor Doesn't Work to Measure Mixer Noise Figure

If the noise source is input to a mixer without an input filter, both sidebands from the noise source will go into the IF and generate a signal. This gives you the wrong gain, and therefore the wrong noise figure. I’m going to illustrate this using the PNA and a special mode that allows it to make Y-factor measurements.
