In this video, we follow the journey of Summer, a 33-month-old child with reducible metatarsus adductus. We discuss the different types and stages of metatarsus adductus, as well as the different management options available. Summer's Podiatrist advised her parents to use Supramalleolar (SMO) devices, which are custom-made devices that are designed to be used within the footwear and for short periods when barefoot.

Summer has been wearing the devices for 2 months now and has been doing well. She is able to walk, run, jump, and play without any pain or discomfort. We will continue to monitor her condition over the next 18 months to track her progress.

If you notice your child's foot posture or walking looks different, it is best to seek advice from a Pediatric podiatrist so that we can design a suitable plan to avoid foot complications in the future.

I’m an adult who has Dwyer osteotomy with plantar release when I was 13. If you’re watching this, please get your kid treated with bracing/casting. Do not do a surgery.
