As Ragnarök draws near, Kratos and his allies rest up for the big battle the next day. Atreus enters his father’s tent, asking if he could sleep besides him. Kratos allows it, but as his son tries to rest his eyes, he struggles. Kratos then tells Atreus a story to clear his mind, a story about an Old Man.

Kratos telling the story of an old man wanting to live is very reminiscent to my life. I dunno how, but it just relates in any possible scenario, regardless of what someone did.

As a kid, I was used to doing favors for people. I always helped them out and I expected kindness in return. But people always hide secrets, even the most introverted of humans. It made me question why I helped people, why I wanted their trust and to trust me in return.
It was something that gnawed at me for 13 straight years.

Ever since then, the favors got too heavy and I was starting to get older, so I couldn't bear to do them anymore. I've been used like a slave, treated like a puppet and I never questioned my loyalty once. Eventually, I shut myself in my room and asked for a sign of release, to get me free of this chain of labor and duty. I received one, and it told me to be who I naturally am. At the time, I didn't know what it meant - I was still naive and developing a sense in the world.

Now, as I've grown up with life, I understood the sign I got. You can take on the form of anyone - a monster, a kindhearted person, a traitor or someone who's undyingly loyal - and befriend people you care for. But it's not the form of someone that matters - it's their nature. The person who you've always been, who you will continue to be - _that_ is who you are. To accept one's nature is to become their true self.

I've embraced who I've become today. I hope all of you do the same. Your nature is always the most important virtue in one's essense - the form matters little. What you choose to do with that form is up to you, but it will never break who you truly are. You open your heart to the true you, and you find every reason to continue living.

Bless you, Santa Monica and God of War: Ragnarök - you taught me a lot.

At this moment I think Kratos still had fear. Hence him telling the story. But after meeting Faye in a dream it feels like he accepts his death and is ready to leave Atreus. Thanks for the upload!

There was a time in my life where I was in a very dark place and it felt like it really was never going to end. I was very close to ending it but before something made me stop that day and reconsider the decision(maybe it was love for my family or my responsibility to them I don't really know).
I've never really cried during a game but this time it broke me. All of it came back all at once and I couldn't take it.

This theme symbolizes Kratos's greatest fear, losing family. Not the Pantheon because they were nerver were or could understand what family really was about. But his mortal family because they truly cared about Kratos and him in return. Atreus is the last member of his own kind that he has left after losing Deimos, his mother, Lysandra, Calliope and Feye.

Kratos cares about his family and its why he lost his shit against Ares and the rest of the panteon.

Any chance you can get the very next mix, after this scene, when he is with Faye in the forest? Thanks man!

Top work. Is it possible to have the music where Kratos is feeling the wound from Zeus on his stomach, before going into the Faye dream sequence?
