I want to say here that the story Kratos said to his son is a traditional Aesop tale we say here in Greece...I remember the elders and our teachers describing it to us...I cried when Kratos told the story to Atreus because of this reason...I wish Youtube allowed me to provide a link to the replies so you could see it for yourself...Kratos truly respect Aesopus...Αίσοπως. Search for: The old Man and Death by Aesop. 😭

The way his voice cracks when nearing the end of the story really got to me. Christopher Judge was just phenomenal in this game

Atreus went to sleep beside his dad because he didn't feel safe and scared. But when he is with his dad, feesl like they can do anything. If a mother's touch brings love and care, then a father touch brings protection and promise. Does a father need any reason to protect his children.

"There was an old man who chopped wood for his village. Every evening, he bore the logs on his back and delivered them to his people, but the logs were heavy, and he grew weaker as time went.
Then one day, he threw down the logs, as he could no longer bear their weight... and he called for Death to come to him.
And when... Death arrived... he..."

I've never been that much happy for someone. You've come a huge way to your wisdom and peace, Kratos. I hope you'll keep it that way.

The last 30 seconds is the theme that plays before you start the game. From the beginning it got me in my feelings. And hearing it while Kratos told that story made it so much more impactful. Thank you for uploading this

Finally redemption being an end instead of death 🙏🏼 Kratos definitely deserves it

*There was an old man who chopped wood for his village. Every evening he bore the logs on his back and delivered them to his people. But the logs were heavy, and he grew weaker as time went. And one day, he threw down the logs, as he could no longer bare their weight, and he called for Death to come to him. And when... Death arrived... he asked the old man why he called for him. Seeing Death before him, caused the old man to reconsider his request. After a moment, he asked of Death to help him lift the logs onto his back, so he may continue on his journey. He wished to keep living.*

Aside from Blood Upon the Snow, this is by far my favourite track in the game.

There's an obvious sombre focus to it, like something sad is about to happen, but at the same time there's peaceful feeling to it. Like it portrays a feeling of... Acceptance. This is being played for a character that knows he might just finally be at the end of his days, but right when he starts accepting it, he pulls back. And realises that he isn't ready to die. He doesn't want to leave his son behind.

.... I've been in a place once in my life where I considered calling to death myself.... and I was in a hopeless .... dark .... bottomless pit of despair and deeply utterly depressed.... I thought nothing was gonna change the way things were .... and so I was going to jump .... but when facing down the barrel of that fall .... I realized exactly what the old man felt fear in following through .... and yet... a bittersweet .... faint .... sense of hope washed over that fear ... and made me want to live .... if you can feel that yourself as well .... then please: carry on with your fight .... don't let your light go out because everything seems pointless .... you're more than what you suffer and you are capable of living through the pain strangers .... love and peace to all 💙 ...!!

The truth is that when I heard this song along with the story that Kratos told and the fact that I was crying a little made me really sad because I really thought it was going to be the end of Kratos but in the end no, we had something better :)
