been shooting with a Sony a7 &A7ii -->been happy with the quality of video and stills...Got a scratch on the sensor on my secondary A7 and just bought the A7iiias a primary difference, sharpness, ISO handling, Videoquality, shot a castle from 170 meters on a 24mm prime, cropped in and I see crisp details in the doors....I will never never never sell this camera (unless i scratch the sensor again) but then I will buy the A7IV :)

Dan, you can absolutely track objects in video mode like you can with Canon. Turn on “Center Lock On AF”. Normally you place the object in the center of the frame and the camera places a white square around the object following it as it tracks. On the newer Sony cameras with a touch screen, you don’t need to place the object in the center and you can touch the object you want to track instead. I’m not sure if it’s quite as good as Dual Pixel AF but give it a try! It works!

I ordered one of these for work to check out, but I can’t get over the insane cost of a Sony lenses.

I’m a big fan of the 6DII, and that’s what I use personally, but I’m glad that Sony keeps lighting fires under the butts of other companies. They do not seem to be holding back.

You guys shoot gorgeous videos and stills every time. Thank you very much. The thing that intrigues me is that if they've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this model, they know Canon and Nikon are coming with their mirrorless options soon, and there is no way in hell they can match this performance, never mind that they won't have a single mirrorless FF lens.
So, what does Sony do next? A7SIII may finally have 4K60p and 10 bit, but you know that this is an engineering led company and they will always have some cool new features that will push the envelope waiting in the wings.

I've seen many pictures from that Sony event, and you guys seem to be the only ones who really knew how to deal with the colors and the white balance (specially on those shots with that biker model). Your pictures were spot on!

Great video, also liked the test you did with the SD Cards on the A7III. Almost two weeks with the A7III and the MC11 adapter. Canon mount Sigma lenses work flawless with the MC11 on this camera. Selling my Canon 6D, bye bye Canon!

Dan! Great vid man. Trying to decide between this and the 42mp r3. Gonna start getting into large prints (poster size) as a serious hobby. Is 24 enough or should i fork out the extra mp??

This camera has timelapse although it's customization options are severely limited. You can set the camera to shoot 1 shot every second, which in effect is time-lapse.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the volume of the parts when you talk the same as the parts when you are showing photos/videos, so I don't have to spend my time increasing the volume when you talk because I can barely ear you and lowering the volume when a video is playing.

I actually ordered a GH5S over preordering the A7iii last week. I may still pick up the Sony for Gimbal work but I'm super happy with the GH5S. I shoot weddings as well as music videos and some commercial work, and this thing gets enough light for low lit receptions. Plus at 5000 ISO I'm still getting the maximum dynamic range, super low noise and with the XL Speedbooster only a 1.1x crop!!! I kept my GH5 too, its IBIS is still killer and I'm getting used to the 10-bit workflow. But this Sony looks great for AF tracking. It would be nice to shoot Full frame Video again.

i never thought i would see great storytelling in a camera review video but somehow you guys did it ;) also, unlike other camera reviewers, you guys actually take great stills as well. as for sony, they're definitely the market disrupters for selling this beast at this 'basic level FF' price point. the A9 sensor tech may have been a gamechanger in innovation; this A7 III will be a gamechanger for Sony in terms of marketshare adoption. exciting times...
