"The timer starts the moment the egg joins your party" That's good to hear, no need to rush to this chapter, we just take our time until then, when we reach it is when we need to time it right to get the color we want.

If you lost to the Iron guys before getting the egg, I gotch'u. It still works: After losing the fight, save. The egg timer will still start when you get the egg, and end when you go into the locker room to schedule your rematch. I do have one note that still needs tested tho.

I dont know if the timer ends when you enter the locker room and the egg goes on the bench, or if it ends when you talk to Grubba for your rematch on the monitor. The time difference between those can be as little as 15 seconds if youre mashing theough dialogue. So it doesnt totally matter. The only tight time window is the white yoshi. But its still a full minute. Just use a stopwatch and enter at the start of the minute.

I think for my first playthrough, I’ll get the green Yoshi. But for the second playthrough, I’m going for the black one; black is one of my all-time favorite colors

The even easier time is to just save right before fighting the adonis twins and then go into the fight and run immediately to see what color you got. Then you can just adjust timewise from there in the 20 minute interval by waiting in the adonis fight.
