In this video I show you how you can apply styles in Microsoft Word, how to assign styles to a paragraph or line of text, how to change the appearance of styles, how to mark topics in your Word document with various headings and hierarchies.

Chris Menard,
I am really grateful to you for your honest efforts. I am astounded to see the number of views on your videos. It shows that people like watch useless stuff rather than the meaningful stuff which can help them in their career growth.
Once again thanks a lot. (Respect from India)
Regards,
Munish Kumar

Your videos are great. I'm particularly fond of your videos on MS Word. Would you have a video that teaches the use of styles to organize a document into numbered sections, subsections and sub-subsections (e.g. 1, 1.1 & 1.1.1)?

Hi, how can I set up a formatting and style for different part of the word document (for example heading, bold times new roman 28, body text calibry 10, footnote calibry 8, table justied calibry 8 etc) in away when you paste sentences with different font, size, etc, it automatically changes to the default style set for that part of the document and one doesn't have to change it manually?

I was a professional document drafter and I was forced to turn Word Styles and auto numbering and bullet points off because I found them to be rubbish. My 20+ years of experience with Word is it can neither remember styles or properly use them. As an example I used indentical formats for all my documents, same styles, same bullet and numbering styles, same margins and same tabs. If I took two 30+ page documents and decided to combine them Word completely destroyed both. It couldn't even retain my one font. My styles were all over the place and as for numbering, I'd have numbered paragraphs say 1-7, I'd go down a few pages and instead of 1-6 Word would change them to 8-13. Using Styles and auto numbering it took me over a full working day to reformat the 80 page combined document Word presented me with. Oh, and it couldn't even keep the margines and tabs.
