How a Sim-Racing PRO avoids a CRASH!

A very cool learning point from the iRacing 24 hour of Nürburgring Special Event we saw was seeing Team Redline in P3 showing us how to keep safe in sim racing when a crash happens, I thought it was so interesting to see a car fighting at the top level in one of the most prestigious Simracing events of the year, and seeing how they manage risk when faced with P2 and P1 coming together, Everything to gain, and everything to lose type of situation, and managing it all with such calculated risk. I deffo learned alot myself, and I'm sure this top-level demonstrated how-to Simracing tip can help you to!

The slowing down to start with is the key...everyone seems to just keep it pinned when there is a wreck ahead and not paying attention.

Would have been interesting if 4th was right there as well, interesting to see what Redline would have done and the 4th place driver, Redline has a decent chunk of time behind him, easy to pull things back and play out the crash. Handled well though, I feel I don't capitalize on accidents, very much slow down and see what's going to happen, instead of risking it, treading the needle and potentially making some good time. I had a perfect example of someone going off and I slowed down, slowly moved my way past the 2 vehicles, only to get tapped on my back tire by one of the cars rejoining which just spun me out adding to the situation.

One more thing our driver may have been doing was hanging back a bit to give a little more reaction time buffer. If he had been just feet behind this crash he likely would have been caught out. This is especially true at the narrow Nurburgring.

There was some caution on behalf of P3 before the contact. That too was key.

I would probably have been much less cautious in this situation. 😅
