Holy smokes! I’ve been pondering the replacement of a zipper on a jacket that I haven’t worn in years…. I just tried this and IT WORKS! That saves me about $100.00 that the tailor was going to charge. 👍👍👍

simple but an effective vid! wonder why no one makes more vids on things we normally ignore in life! I have a beard shaver's case that was missing 2 teeth in the middle of its zipper - I literally ignored that for over 10 years - but now sit down and fixed it in a minute or so - thanks for the inspiration and technique in the easy-peasy way of getting it done - once again, cheers for that!!

You forgot to show how you reattach the zipper pull on a zipper that’s already sewn into a garment or bag. It’s easy enough on a zipper that’s not yet sewn in.

Thank you so much for posting this video. You helped me solve a problem that would have normally cost me at least $40.

What happens here, it that the slider eventually stretches and opens up slightly from tugging on it, and the zipper tangs fails to mesh fully. On plastic zippers especially, I just force the slider backwards towards the end stopper, keeping a tight grip of both tracks of the zipper to keep them parallel. If it's too tight to drag slider backwards, open slider at the back, very slightly. Then move the slider up just a couple of tangs, to check that they're meshing properly. Bring back the zipper to the fully end stopped position, and squeeze the slider slightly with the pliers. Test it again, and it should feel slightly tighter to pull the slider. Works with metal type zippers too, although it may be necessary to open the slider just very slightly at the back of it, with small flat blade or similar, to allow it to drag back to the end stopper. Only slight pressure is needed with the pliers when squeezing, as the slider is often made of cast metal, and will break easily. This method has worked for me, and doesn't require removal of the slider, or any of the zipper tangs. Occasional lubrication of the zipper ( wax or equivalent ), and careful use of the slider should help minimize problems. Cheers 🍻

Have done this a few time on various zips that kids etc pull on too hard - it only works a couple of times as eventually the metal fatigues and bits just break off :/ Great tip to share :)
