Reasons she didn’t win
1. The dogs have never been aggressive before (from the sounds of it)
2. The owner has an obvious sign that says, plain as day, BEWARE OF DOGS. In most jurisdictions, that’s enough of a warning and if you ignore it then it’s on you.

Just about a month ago, my aunt was walking outside of her property at around 9 AM. It was a nice normal morning walk until she ran into a group of wild dogs. She thought she could pass them, but they started grouping up and circling around her. She said they were nipping at her legs and she was screaming in pain, her neighbors heard this and they ran over and called the ER. She got life flighted to the ICU. She can no longer use her left arm and she had about 10 things of stitches that she had all over her body :(

I feel bad for the woman who got attacked, but I agree with the judge.

Unfortunately, I was in a situation like this. My backyard was a cutting path to get to the next street faster, which led to a popular corner store. Kids would hop my fence and race my dogs to get across. They did this for months, and I pleaded the every time for them to stop. Eventually, they started harassing my dogs, like maniacs. One kid in particular was awful, and would constantly throw things, mocking em once he made it across...

One day, my dogs got him, and it was bad. Really bad. So bad I thought I was going to jail, bad. I knew it wasn't going in my favor, despite the fences, the warnings, the pleadings. I argued that I'm not about to cage my dogs every time a kid wanna trespass on my property.

They still put my dogs down because of that incident.

Dang! I hope she has a PO box. I would hate to be their mail carrier. Most beware of dog signs are meant to determine robberies, trespassing into the back yard, or vandalism. Usually that doesn't apply to a neighbor walking up to your front door to try to sell girl scout cookies, collect money for charity, or a delivery man. Any stranger could walk up to your front door, even just a person who was in a car wreck and needs medical help ( maybe they are disoriented and lost their cell phone in the car crash). They shouldn't attack someone for knocking on the door! Also, Just because they owner says the dog has never been violent doesn't automatically mean it's true.

I appreciate the judge, a lot of dogs are put down for this, that is one BIG ASS BEWARE SIGN and u can see it clear as day, she wasn’t invited on the property and yes the dogs were apparently never aggressive before this situation so I agree with the judge here.

It is insane to me that a dog would attack someone who simply walks up to ring the bell. Could have been a kid or a postman/delivery. As someone who did deliveries and loves dogs; I was cornered by two of them once. And I was ON THE STREET. No one’s property and there was no owner around.
I had already delivered but couldn’t get back to the truck.
I tried sweet-talking, tried a more stern voice and yelled out for their owners. No answer.
Then I backed up back onto the property I had just delivered and the dogs stopped approaching. I rang the bell again and told the person what happened. Right then the dogs ran away.

A wild thing to happen in my country (the Netherlands).

I require more context. Did the dogs break out of the fence and attack? Or when she may have opened the door, did they leap out and attack? 😅

Still, I do understand. Precautions were applied, and without the full context, I would have to agree & and there were NO prior incident reports made as well. I side sadly with the judges ruling.

But I would ask the judge to require the owner to put the dogs away if she is unable to keep them under control when answering the door 🚪 and make sure the dogs are unable to free themselves and if they are strongly reinforce the safety of the fence lines. GOD BLESS the traumatized woman & potentially her son who witnessed a brutal attack.

Trespassing is illegal and the dog was just being a dog and protecting its owner, that's why I don't feel bad for her, and TBH she was basically asking for trouble by trespassing and the house had a "beware of dogs" sign on it (side note: sorry for yapping)

A. You trespassed on someone’s property, which gives that person more than enough leverage to defend their property
B. If the dogs weren’t aggressive before, then there’s no legitimate way you can predict they would suddenly be aggressive
C. Signs warn of dogs, they ignored the sign.
