Honestly the fact that he stopped amd corrected him self is very impressive for a young presa

These new owners getting dogs like Presa is TERRIFYING

An intact presa should not belong to inexperienced dog owners. I'm glad you're helping them with their dog.

I've never seen a dog correct itself like that. Where it realizes it really messed up. They are SO lucky to have a dog that's self aware like that. Usually their fear takes over and that's how people get mauled to death. Especially someone by themselves like that with a dog that size. She was beyond lucky.

Kudos to the owner for seeking and obtaining skilled professional help and allowing her mistakes to be used for educational purposes. The pup does seem to be very willing to learn as well. Thanks❤

So glad these people sought help like responsible dog parents instead of having the dog euthanized. I hope they're all doing well, and i hope the doggie is happy and feels safe.

I like the breakdown of real life videos where something went wrong and you explain all the steps that went into how it happened and why. It helps a lot to understand these types of situations.

I'm glad the owner asked for advice instead of just blaming the dog like every ignorant owner does

And get him fixed ffs- he laid down so clearly he knew he was wrong.. correcting himself ! Intelligent dog and I am so glad they are still working with him❤

This is exactly why I love starting with puppies. Addressing this sort of behavior with a 12 week old pup is so much easier and safer. But, I’m going to school to be a dog trainer, so I need to get used to these scenarios. Thanks for all your videos!

From a young age I trained my puppy by touching him and standing next to him while his eating. I make sure when he’s eating I pat him and tell him “good boy” he knows to wait for his food and he knows when to eat his food on command . I’m still training him but hand feeding him and making him aware that I give him his food is very important

I had akitas growing up and as a kid I would sit with our new puppies every time they are and stick my hand in the bowl, making them eat around me or out of my hand. I would even pull them away for a few seconds at a time, get their attention and then put a high value treat with the food to show being pulled away or obstructed from food isn't permanent and is often even rewarded.

I had a dog once that guarded her food so I stopped feeding her in a dish and I would hand feed her a couple pieces at a time for good behavior instead. We did it for several months and after a while she wouldn't eat out of a dish at all and prefered for the kids to place a piece of food on the floor do a trick the kids would release and she would eat it. Kind of loopy but she was litterally the best dog I ever had. It was nice to get the whole family involved in her training and caretaking.

Once my family adopted from a police officer a Doberman that was starving because the other dogs didn't let her eat, she was already adult so the only rule at home was "do not mess with her if she is eating" I loved her she was an angel just traumatized...😢

i was taught to *never* mess with an animal and their food. and the same respect goes for people, everyone takes their meals seriously.

I was told by a local dog trainer to have every member of your family take turns feeding your dog on a regular basis and to also do frequent hand feeding because it teaches the dog that you are not a threat, and you are the giver of food rather than the taker of food. It works. Our one dog was a bit food aggressive but only with people food. We were able to redirect her with those techniques and she's much better now.

Resource aggression is not a leash training opportunity. This simply teaches them that they can still act however they want when thst leash is off. It's an opportunity for getting them used to you being around their food and seeing you as their resource for food. I sit by my dogs bowl and feed them a little at a time from my hand to their bowl, petting and talking to them the whole time. This is kit breed specific, I've done it with all types of dogs and it never fails

I’ve always made it a point to hand feed my puppies from a extremely young age, giving them impression that all food comes from m hands. That along with training has helped me have not food aggressive dogs. Thanks for all your help, I always watch your videos!

I had a male, intact Presa. Early on, talking about 5mo old, he displayed that aggression. They are wonderful dogs but MUST be trained and have strong and experienced owners. Not just experience in owning golden retrievers, but dominant breeds. I cannot stress that enough. He was an amazing boy (who wanted to also be a lap dog!) never gave me issues after establishing dominance & training, and I pray I see him & his older Am Staff sister again after I leave this earth.

The best part about this video is that the owners are taking responsibility and not just working with their dog, but learning from what happened. 💯💯💯
