Dist Prof Harjinder Singh presenting the 'High-Value Nutrition Science of Food Priority Research Programme' at the 2016 High-Value Nutrition Science Symposium.

The High-Value Nutrition National Science Challenge is about investing in the next generation of foods for health. In 2015 the Challenge already invested $10.9m in its long-term research programmes, complemented by $7m worth of shorter-term research projects. High-Value Nutrition has now built a foundation upon which science will be able to flourish over the next ten years. The infrastructure is in place to allow scientists to build innovative strategies, techniques and technology; and to collaborate across disciplines.

The 2016 High-Value Nutrition Science Symposium brought together those that have taken on the challenge so far, and provided a platform for scientist to exchange and network, and for industry to engage with scientists. The symposium profiled the High-Value Nutrition research, but also other relevant New Zealand research, and brought international speakers to give insights in the food-for-health market trends and global regulatory environment.
