EVER WONDERED WHAT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS, AND HOW IT WORKS?

Attorney Steve® explains what a class action lawsuit is and what the 4 requirements a Plaintiff must show to have their class action complaint "certified."

In general, you need a bunch of injured people who are "similarly situated" with common questions of law and fact and legal counsel that is up to the task of representing multiple Plaintiffs in one lawsuit.

If the class becomes certified, all the members of the class are bound by the legal decision (unless they previously "opted out" when they received notice of the lawsuit.

In many cases, this never happens because the amount of damages (for example in a copyright case brought by musicians or songwriters, photographers, or others involved in a consumer class action case) is so small that an individual Plaintiff does not want to OPT OUT and sue on their own behalf.

So this video discusses enough for you to know more than the average bear and sound intelligent at a cocktail party, in school, or at some other public place (or just good conversation amongst friends around the campfire).

Hi Steve Great video with some great explanations. I get those Stock loss ownership class action notices all the time through my brokers. They want you to sign-up as the lead plaintiff. I'm leery about these. Is there any way it could hurt me, or cost me money? Or is it pretty much on the law firm, (won't cost me any money)? Thanks

m looking for people who have been hurt by Santa Barbara's new parent-child tax exemption requirements. It's intentionally written to "TRICK" and "TRAP" It's citizens. I'm seeking an attorney to file against Santa Barbara to challenge this law and I'm looking for others who have been hurt for a possible class action suit to over turn this law written and filed without notice during Covid. Here is my argument:

Santa Barbara redefined the term "Transferror" in an ambiguous law the wrote and put out to the voters. It was written to confuse voters because it is in conflict with well-established Trust law. In a trust agreement, for which there were hundreds before 3/2021, has always been the Trustee who has no obligation to be a family member. According to 99% of trust agreements, a beneficiary can NEVER be a transferor - a person allowed to take assets out of a trust and NEVER before had to live in an asset they inherit. Yet, Santa Barbara alleges the right to "trap" beneficiaries in a trust if they can't live in the asset they will inherit by not giving proper notice of these radical changes in conflict with Trust Law during Covid. In other words, they wrote their new form and changed the law purposely during Covid to trick its citizens, especially elders, in losing their Proposition 13 rights.
