I was 17 and remember the Pizza Hut stayed at the beach road. It's the very first US food franchise in Pattaya. Thank you for keeping the film in good condition. 👏👏👏

My first ever trip to Pattaya was in March 1986, and the opening of this video confirms what I thought. It was a fraction of what it is now, and you could cover the whole town on foot within a relatively short time. In those days Ko Larn had nothing on it. You took a boat over, it landed on the beach, and there was nothing there except the people who went with you. I did not return to Pattaya again until 2009, by which time it was incomparable!

Lots of shots of Pattaya Main-Beach, but I couldn't see Jomtien, on there ? My own memory is of Jomtien being bare beach back then, with just a single-track dirt-road running along it.

It was my first trip also to Thailand in Christmas of 1986. Less people then for sure.

I remember back in 1989 the Nimitz battle group park in the Harbour. Ten thousand sailor hitting the beach . I was lucky to find a hotel room.

Those were the days, before tourists got to know Pattaya, and now every tourist nows Pattaya

beautiful. So mad at myself for not going until 2004. I was in California starting in 82 and was 25 at the time. Oh god if I had only known to travel. Instead I kept holidaying back East which I never really liked except for growing up familiarity. Lesson is to not limit yourself and to go and seek new adventures
