Life cycle of spider mite

Показать описание
Spider mite infestations affect many crops throughout the world. With their great reproductive capacity they can destroy plants rapidly. Adult spider mites can be red, orange, yellow, green or brown in colour. Both males and females usually have two large black spots. That is why they are called ‘two-spotted spider mite’. Spider mites cause damage to the host plant by feeding on plant tissue and plant sap. They mainly occur on the underside of leaves where they suck out the contents of the cells. These dead cells become yellow. As damage increases whole leaves turn yellow, and eventually the plant may die. Nymphs and adults also produce webs, and plants can be completely covered by them. They can reproduce sexually as well as asexually. Eggs are laid on the underside of the leaves. The larvae that emerge from the eggs are virtually colourless with two dark red eyes. Once they start feeding they become light green, brownish yellow or even dark green. The two dark spots also develop on the middle of the body. Once sufficient food is consumed, they become inactive and develop into protonymphs. Another feeding and resting period follows, that leads to a moult. The deutonymph emerges. After another moult the adult mite appears. With each moult spider mites shed their skin. The colour of the adults often depends on the crop on which they occur. The intensive use of chemicals has led to many spider mite populations developing resistance to pesticides.

There exist organic friendly options like abamectin, spiromefisan, neem oil + lemon grass essential oil combo, etc.
Even non organic options like propagite are life savers because of the minimal quantities required for a full knock out.

But most of the isolated compounds are effective only one or two stages of their life cycle. Thus a combo ensures the adult and the eggs both die.

Information about the actual time it takes for these different stages in the next video maybe..?

Location: North India
Weather Condition: Dry Summers (20-40 Celsius)
Spider- mite colour: Orange
My Dahlias and Zinnias got attacked by orange spider-mites... initially i thought that it was just some web of Spiders and leaves turning yellowish because of bright sun, in 3-4 days all five Dahlias almost died. then i sprayed mixure of 2 pesticides, but of no use... but i conclude the spray of mixture helped because of water to stop there growth.
just watched a video in which they says that the cold water spray will kill spider-mites.
sprayed already - waiting for the result

I’ve heard mites are related to spiders, this is evidence of the closest mite to the spider.

good camera for sure. you can see the guts in action with the translucent bodies. I personally hate spider mites. I havent had them in my garden a long time though. When I did...I took care of business with neem/Azadiractin oils and pyrethrum.

You need to cut off the messed up leaves so the plant can grow new ones after you spray the mites with soap if the plant is still young in age...

I was cutting a box privet hedge the other day and found the bottom cover in old cobwebs and tiny little white grains and flakes in the cob webs.. I just wondered what it was?.. if anyone would know..
Would it be harmful if it was spider mite larve or eggs, as during working I was at time breathing in some of this white bits?

Many thanks for any answers, as I'm imagining them hatching in my lungs.. I a bit far fetched I know.. but as I don't know about this stuff, I just wanted to ask..
