the most important category for a flight sim: realism of aircraft...

Honestly, if FS 2020s graphics and visuals were taken and imported into X-plane 11, that would be a dream come true.

Prepar3D is a refined version of Flight Simulator X — which came out in 2006.

Lockheed Martin purchased the non-consumer rights for it, while Dovetail Games has (or had?) the consumer license.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. One area you forgot to review was flight dynamics. In this category X-Plane wins hands-down which for me is the most important category for a realistic simulator.

If they all combined, that game would be awesome

The one thing you didn't mention about MSFS 2020 is it requires a very fast high speed internet connection with an unlimited data plan because scenery data is retrieved from a remote server, so if your connection speed is under 120 MBPS you will experience slow FPS and stutters, even on a very fast computer with lots of RAM. Also, if you have others around the house who use the internet connection to stream TV programs, you'll experience slow frames and stutters as well, so you'd have to make sure nobody else is using the internet connection when you're on the simulator.

Nice vid, but I would have included the topics Addons and Flight Dynamics and Realism, because that are the biggest downsides of MSFS atm. I am a Pilot IRL and I can say, that the Flight Physics are very weird in MSFS. Also the Icing is the biggest Problem for me. Completely unrealistic. For me, the best sim without paying to much is XP11, because of the great amount of freeware Addons. But only for realism, P3D is my Top 1. And btw., XP11 has an option for real weather as well and it work very good for me.

My favorite is P3D because I really enjoy flying the PMDG B747-400 with it's fully functional flight deck EFIS and fully programmable FMS-CDU.

I spent over 1000 $ on P3D aircraft, tools and scenery. Very happy. But out of curiosity, I want to try X-Plane as well.

FSX and 2020 are far different products apart from the brand "Microsoft".
P3D is closer to FSX, considered that they both have almost the same background.

MSFS gives you way better performance as well. You can get way better graphics and fps with the same hardware and they haven't even switched to DirectX12 yet. I don't understand why X-Plane got the point here. Overall a fair video I think. You could have maybe also compared the flight models but that's more complicated so I understand why you didn't.

I feel like you missed a huge subject that MSFS 2020 gets completely destroyed by X-plane 11 in. X-plane 11 has proven to have a more realistic feel at the controls of the aircraft. MSFS is still in development, but that is more of something that takes forever to fix. In fact, X-plane 11 is the base for most training flight simulators for major airlines like Delta, United, American, basically anything you can name. Good video, but you went more for the bells and whistles, not the actual simulator itself.

PS: I subbed for effort :)

you should add "addons" to the rating. cince xp11 has TON of free ones, almost all in msfs are payware. im not sure about the p3d tho

FS 2020 is also a work in progress...the developers even tell you that. And will be a very long work in progress. I started back in mid 90s on Microsoft Flight sim. FS 2020 yes, has its bugs. The lack of study level aircraft as well. I'm really only into GA aircraft. But have logged thousands of sim hours over the years. Microsoft/Asobo has done an amazing work so far. A project this big deserves time.
