That little "hmm, intriguing" at 11.03 made me chuckle because I do exactly the same thing with my books.

I was slightly confused at first, as the title says "Wrap Up" and you were continuously saying "really exited for this" - like what? 😂 I then realized it's a typo 🙈

I'm still loving your channel Simon - it's like I'm browsing a talking bookshelf.

So envious that you have Janice Hallett's new book. The Appeal has been one of my favourite books of the year. So glad they are also making it into a TV show.

Please do a video on books that you consider in “that sweet spot” between contemporary and literary fiction. I need to know!!!!

Dolly Parton... gold & rose... *zones out in bliss* I know that's a proof, I really hope the original has the same version *maybe a giveaway afterwards? *. Hugh DP fan, her coffee book "Storyteller" is beautiful.

Just got the shipping notification for The Fell yesterday! Hopefully I’ll have it by end of next week. I am so looking forward to it! I’ve already got my preorder for The Twyford Code in. The Appeal is in my top 5 for this year. I thought it was brilliant. (I can’t figure out which character your mum is referring to though. I don’t remember being irritated by anyone. It’s just fantastic.)

I couldn't quite hear what you said about the author in The Haunting Season who wasn't worth a mention. I thought you said "turd"? 🤔 Apologies if I misheard. 🤣 Interesting selection of books there, and many authors I'm not familiar with so will try to track some of them down. Looking forward to seeing your decs when they're up! 🎄

I just got The Haunting Season as well. Perfect for this time of the year. I do hold off on 2022 books until 2022, I must admit. It’s not rational but there it is.

Have you never read any books by Ann Cleeves? She amazing. I love the 'Vera' books and the 'Vera' TV series, She also wrote all the 'Shetland' books. Love me some Jimmy Perez. And the new stories about a detective in the Devon area, Matthew Venn, and his husband, who manages to be involved in all the murder investigations...LOL. 'The Long Call' and 'The Heron's Call." Worth looking out for.

Having a Anthony Horowitz binge at the mo as needing light hearted, funny detective crime books- just read The Sentence is Death and A Line to Kill...absolutely love them.
Looking forward to the next stack of Simon and Melanie suggested reads. Need to catch up on The Lying Life of Adults and Leave the World Behind.

I’m torn on wether to read my 2022 proofs now or in january for the exact same reason, kind of ridiculous we’re putting them off for the fear of loving them when you think about it😂x

Are you thinking of the word palatable over palpable? Great haul!

Patterson with Clinton and now Patterson with Parton, what's up with that, I do not like collaborations, even when it was King and McMurtry. Highsmith stalked an old girlfriend, Those Who Walk Away also had a stalker theme, guess she did not take up the break up very well, such a terrific writer, despite or because of her flaws?
