MONK LIFE IN THAILAND (CHINESE SUBTITLE) The life of a Buddhist Monk

With the hectic and chaotic pace of the world, many men from around the world are seeking an alternative path. A path that leads to peace, mindfulness, and liberation. This ancient path provides the opportunity to learn how to see oneself, one's situation, an event, and the world as it really is. This path is monkhood. Monkhood in Theravada Buddhist tradition in Thailand to be exact. Hidden in Thailand is a program called IDOP, short for International Dhammadayadas Ordination Program. This program gives foreigners an opportunity to ordain twice every year. The program caters to those speaking English and Chinese. The next ordination for English speaking participants is in March and July. The program for Chinese speaking participants will be in July. Keep in mind that this is a short term, temporary ordination program to give people an opportunity to have an authentic experience to live and practice as a Buddhist monk in a monastery. Staying longer than the completion of the program is an option, please inquire for more information.

Again, if you are interested in ordaining, living in a monastery as a monk, practice mindfulness and daily meditation, and learning dhamma, then this may be a great opportunity for you. I cannot speak for anyone else, but ordination has transformed my life and has given me clarity on how to live my life in a meaningful and purposeful way.

Venerable Nick - I got to hear about you and your life yesterday at Pa Pae - thank you so much for the very touching and very interesting insights into a different life! Now in Pai, reading more about Buddhism and letting the past days settle into my system a few questions popped up and coming across your YouTube channel while searching for more infos I thought I might jusk them here - I hope that's ok...

Back home in Germany I was raised on a Christian belief system and there are rituals such as baptism, confirmation or communion that display the "official membership" (also for taxation reasons...) to those belief systems - is there something similar in Buddhism, a ritual for followers of the Buddhism?

The Buddhist mindset that I got to learn a lot about from our teaching monk really, really caught me and I can see some parallels to the (moderate) Christian rules of how to live a good life and do good to others... It's not that I am clinging to my religion, however, I feel awkward, a bit like "going astray" after living 40 years in a Christian based environment - would you say one needs to decide fpr 'one side' in order to live well by Buddhist principles?

Best regards & thank you very much - Christine

Another good thing about being a monk is that everything you own as a monk is truly yours but in all the countries in the world you spend hundreds of thousands on a house forget to pay one little bill and the government shuts it down don't pay the mortgage they come and force you out of your house that you fully paid off so you can never truly own anything anymore if most people ever even got the chance to own anything
