“Northern Washington just south of Oregon “is definitely an “undisclosed location”.😂

Great vid.

you're talking about a down backpacking quilt. snaps and cinches around your feet like a sleeping bag... open around your shoulders and head like a quilt with no hood. Enlightened Equipment makes down BP quilts, and when I got mine a couple years ago Hammock Gear was a great cheaper alternative. I have a Hammock Gear quilt and it's super light and super warm and cheaper than Enlightened EQ gear. but personally if I had your van, I'd put a fitted sheet around an Exped mattress and bring blankets or an unzipped car camping rectangular bag. and two huge pillows. but that's just me and my pref's.

For the sleeping bag: You are looking for a quilt with tow box. Enlightened Equipment makes one called Enigma Sleeping Quilt. I have one and backpack with it. 10/10 recommend.

For your down bag issue, look into quilts from Enlightened Equipment or other makers. Can be used as a blanket, or as a closed footbox bag that lays flat near your shoulders/torso. You can get them in a variety of weights depending on what you need. Highly recommend. I use mine for both bikepacking and truckbed camping.

Imagine telling someone to meet you in Northern Washington, just south of Oregon. 🤯

For a maker solution to the quilt, check out the Ray Way quilt kit. It’s synthetic, not down, but it’s a great project. You will either adore the vintage Internet aesthetic of their website or hate it.

A man without a van is not a man. Your channel is a real refreshing addition to my current life working in a cool factory in Taiwan. You just remind me how different and quirky western people can be. Don't change! Induction stoves are interesting. I'm thinking of getting one for a small sailboat. Just not sure how my current battery system will hold up with it.

Beautiful place, and great shots of the trees fading into nothing but clouds or fog!

3:00 Our night vision comes from rod receptors in our eyes along with the build up of the rhodopsin molecule. When in the dark, you might notice you can see better after about an hour - it's because your body has built up rhodopsin. White light causes rhodopsin to break down causing the the rod receptors in our eyes to not function well, which negatively impacts our night vision. Red light is less destructive to rhosopsin, so it is better for our eyes to maintain night vision.

4:45 I hear you on this point. My sleep-game changed when I started messing around with different layers of sleeping pads. I use a 1-inch self-inflating pad on top of a 3-inch air-pad for backpacking. No more bad sleep for the first night. I'm still working out the combination for the car-camping/camper-van, but so far a memory foam mattress topper over a foam base layer is working well.

2:25 Aside from the understandable product plugs you do in your videos, try "personal cleansing" wipes if you want to save on money and don't need the "cooling" part of Duke Cannon Cold Shower wipes. As a bonus, one can use the wipes after using the bathroom. I first learned about using these in the field as a wildland firefighter. They were key to keeping us from being terribly stinky and minimized skin irritation that can arise from being too dirty in certain places.

THE answer to sleeping bags: Quilts by Enlightened Equipment (or other brands).
Used a 20* version of their “Enigma” hiking the PCT from Mexico—>Canadá last year. 5 months of nightly use.
It’s exactly what you’re looking for. Ultralight too because you ditch the zipper (re: bikepacking). Way comfier for people that move around in sleep!

That red light would drive me mad!
Tucking a hoodie into the hood is a great idea - also works for waterproofs…

For condensation I use a micro fibre cloth which I wring out and then put over the dash vent to dry out as I drive.

I have some Wolftooth 2-in-1 that I carry on long rides and bikepacking. My gravel bike also uses Squirt wax lube, so I carry a small bottle of that too. I used Crud Cloth shower-in-a-bag, but you can make your own in a mason jar and reuse the white hand cloths - less waste!

Northern Washington just south of Oregon 😆I use the WalMart 2 in 1 White Lightning for the down and dirty clean and lubes; cheap and effective enough. I really love love your van!

Western Mountaineering! They have several models that will unzip into a blanket. Hoodless.

Enlightened Equipment makes a great down bag with a closed foot bed and no hood. And you customize the denier weight, down fill and colors. Pricey but good stuff 😊

To combat condensation at the front, use a wraparound isolation blanket on the outside. That way the thermal bridge is on the outside of your car, instead of on the inside. It's easy to make yourself, but it's probably available online as well.
