Whether you have a T5, VW T5.1, T6, T6.1 or even an older T2, T2.5, T4, the VW Vanlife scene is amazing, with so much help and assistance available for whatever project you wish to attempt. Panel van, Kombi, Converted Camper or VW California Beach or Ocean, enjoy the freedom van life brings.

The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.

I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.

Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.

Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

There are many great camper adventures to come

Thanks must go to the following:
Transporter HQ for my tailgate struts
Kiravans for my Swivel Seats

Tip for cheap easy keeping food cool, we use a normal cool box but take pre-made pre frozen meals with us for the first night or 2. These act like cool packs and keep everting nice and cold for a couple of days. Not a long term solution but for a weekend it works a treat!

And power 12v some people put a leisure battery under the front seats or make a DIY portable battery box, some TVs will run directly off 12v too

When i got my transporter, i planned to convert it to a camper. But I just left school and didn't have that much money. I thought i would convert it as i go. Now over 10 years later i really did nothing exept getting an awning that i can switch myself on the go to a awning tent depending on the weather or things i have planned.
But else i pretty much kept it stock. When i go to events or camping i throw out the seats. Put down a mattress throw in 2 coolers some gasstove a coal grill some chairs and drive away. All in all it doesn't even take 30 to 40 minutes till i can go.
I took it to normal camping trips to music festivals and trips through europe as a stealth camper.

Been fairly overwhelmed with trying to find a transporter T5 for taking my self, parter and son across the UK on the weekends. Been caught up on trying to find one already converted (mainly because I’m unsure on capability to convert a van myself to a standard where my ADHD is happy with it) 🤣 however I may just look for the right van first now. Great video.

all very good points with an overview on away from van itself tasks etc..which is despite the homely van with all mod cons appeal...for the small 'im just weekending' quite far away..outdoor mostly' van...why load it with to much fixed heavy unnessasarys that can instead be packable, lightweight, portable, more space etc...ie small van/shorter trip..just for safe sleeping with comfortable bare basics.

Haha, I think you’re talking about me at Argyle the other week, I could see your mates were surprised 🤣
I’m always looking for ideas for my T6.1 camper 👍

All you need is a comfy place to lay your head, water bottles and a portable toilet

A full build with plumbing, gas and electricity for toilet, shower, kitchen and TV seems like a long term maintenance nightmare

A Dodge camper style van is simple, roomy, can be parked in any safe neighborhood and just buy cheap affordable food to survive

Giving me confidence that maybe I can start small if I want a campervan. Thanks! Also these days, many people have power banks for phones and travelling. I think a car or van 12V charger is sufficient to keep one of those and a phone topped up. Plus a power bank is very useful beyond the van

Can you recommend a single bed for a Transporter kombi van . I'm looking into getting one of these vans for my bike packing trips & would like to put my bike in the rear as well . Two of the rear seats would be used for the elderly parents when at home .

Nice ideas. Interesting article from Ecoflow considering their older models are Lithium Ion

As someone who’s rented large motor homes ( there’s 5 of us ) even with a fully loaded kitchen I’d be cooking outside. You don’t want everyone’s clothes smelling of bacon after breakfast. I have the Vango Folding Orange Box gas burner ( £25 ), and coupled with a cheap single burner cooker from Go Outdoors (£25 ) was ample for cooking for us. Yes there are two different gas bottles for these systems, but both are cheap, and both never run out at the same time. I carry the Vango one into the woods with the kids for days out.
If there was 3 of us, I’d be looking at a Van King bed conversion, and one of their pull out Pods to cook on. I think they retail at £2.5k for both bed and pod for my T6. They can be fitted quickly and easily by anyone with a few tools. The advantage of this is I have 6 seat belted seats, the rear 3 just fold over flat and the bed goes around them.

Be aware that there are campsites that do not allow vans that are not fully converted.
