Intro: 0:00

1. Hurricanes and Severe Weather 0:21
South Carolina has the potential for severe weather, including hurricanes, tornadoes and thunderstorms.

2. Heat and Humidity 2:40
This is my favorite thing about living in South Carolina. The Summer months are very hot and humid.

3. Insects 4:00
There are a lot of insects in South Carolina, including mosquitoes, palmetto bugs (roaches), fire ants, and more!

4. Alligators and Snakes 4:57
There are alligators and snakes in South Carolina, and some of the snakes are poisonous.

5. Tourism 5:51
The natural beauty and history of South Carolina brings in a lot of tourist every year, especially in the Beach Towns, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach.

6. Traffic 6:33
With all of the tourist and people moving to South Carolina, there is a lot of traffic in certain areas.

7. Sales Tax 7:00
South Carolina has a relatively high sales tax, but it has one of the lowest property taxes in the nation for a primary residence.

8. Small Cities 8:00
There are no large Cities in South Carolina, at least when comparing them to other large cities with Skyscrapers, like: Atlanta, LA, New York City, Miami, etc...

9. Lack of Seasonal Changes 8:52
Due to the warm weather, a large portion of South Carolina does not have much for seasonal changes. It very rarely snows in Charleston, and you will not see beautiful fall colors in some areas.

10. Pollen and Allergies 9:24
There is a lot of pollen in South Carolina!

11. Flooding 9:55
There is a risk for flooding, especially in the low country. Flooding can occur during a hurricane or tropical storm. Flooding can also occur during a heavy rain, especially when there is a high tide.

12. Low Housing Inventory/Expensive homes and rent 11:17

Just visited SC for the first time from Germany. Loved it. Beautiful nature, kind people and great weather in November. I can see why you live there (totally ignoring your video on the Cons lol).

I agree, love SC, I’ve been here since 1990, moved from California. Glad I left that waste land behind. Best move ever made.

Hi Mark! I was born and raised in SC, mostly Summerville. Married a Montana farmer’s daughter from Kalispell…I agree with every word! Was there for Hugo, and every hurricane since until 2009, when we moved to Simpsonville. Don’t miss ANYthing about the Lowcountry! We love the No to Low humidity up here…it’s 60 degrees right now…CHEERS! Mark Smith

Greenville - Spartanburg area great places to live. Mountain and beach easy drive away, but hurricanes far enough away not to be a problem.

There is no such thing as as a sudden hurricane so keep that in mind. Tornadoes are a rarity here. Heat, humidity, insects and critters are throughout the south. And I'm pretty sure thunderstorms occur in every state 🙄

Ive lived in South Carolina for almost 15 years now. It’s that that bad. The weather is more dry than humid. We only get really heavy rain in spring and sometimes summer. Hurricanes aren’t too bad. Tornados are pretty rare here in Charleston. Thunderstorms are not bad at all. It’s just normal rain with some thunder. Mosquitoes don’t come out in the winter. But, flooding is an ongoing occurrence in downtown. When pollen comes, sometimes it will be bad but it just gets washed away with spring showers. Overall, South Carolina is an excellent place to live.

Thanks for the video. We considered a number of states to retire from Montana to. We chose Iowa. And so far we like it very well.

On my feed, there were 4 "move there" shows, and I was happy to see some balance (reality) on your show. These are much more honest ... thanks!

I Live outside Conway and it’s beautiful, we are about 30 miles from the beach, yes it rains and storms, and yes it’s hot, but it is beautiful. Not near the rivers so flooding not so much. Seen very few snakes. Still way better than living in Pa where I’m from.

Traffic - deadly two lane Roundabouts. Taxes - vehicle annual property tax. Both don't make much sense. Also lack of conservation and recycling. The nature that draws people to the state is slowly being taken away.

You know you're from South Carolina after being pulled over by the police for illegal lane change, and you ask the officer while trying to avoid getting a ticket "You mean I have to use turn signals when changing lanes ?"

- Columbia via Wichita.
