Adrian you are a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. 😄I'm not sure about the drinking laws from state to state, but happy there's a liquor store, with a good wine selection, not far from my new home.

I just wish we would have some consistency in what constitutes being an adult. You can't drink till 21. You can buy guns at 18. You can be charged as an adult for murder as young as 12. You can die for your country at 18. etc... What age are you a legal adult? That should be the drinking age...

On a layover in Germany I was in the united lounge and they had self serve alcohol! I was amazed. You'd never find that here in the US. I guess we aren't responsible enough here lol

I was in the military. Served with guys under 21. Old enough to die for those old men in stiff suits, should be old enough to drink

I am old enough to remember when the drinking age changed. I thought it was unfair back then and I still think the same.
If a person is an adult for all legal aspects at 18 years old and will suffer adult consequences for his or her action, then that person is also old enough to consume alcohol.

For many years, the City of Philadelphia, bowing to the Quaker traditions of its founders - one of its nicknames is “The Quaker City” - enforced Sunday “Blue Laws.” On Sundays, all businesses and establishments serving liquor were closed. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court finally ended the Blue Laws in 1978 by essentially declaring them unenforceable. The overwhelming majority of citizens were happy to see them go!

In Germany, teens 16 years old, are allowed to drink beer, wine and champagne. Not the high % Alkohol! To drink these types of alcohol you have to be 18.

In my country (Portugal), the law authorizes the consumption of alcoholic beverages from the age of 18. I thing its ok. The most important is to be aware to stop drinking, when alcohol consumption is excessive. And always walking with someone who does not drink, to take the car or help avoid any kind of complicated situation as fights or confusions.

My age was the last to get grandfathered in for drinking at 19 here in Ohio. Realistically speaking, we could buy beer at 15-16 (and a couple of friends actually stole booze from Kroger's...but it was always peppermint schnapps...which sucks).😆

My home state is West Virginia, incidentally.
I can understand why the laws are strict here. Too many people develop problems at such a young age, due to the state’s lack of future and opportunities. It’s a dead coal miner’s state that’s been untouched by real progress. Alcohol is simply an easy escape from the hardships many people endure. Not that the laws stop young kids from drinking at a young age. Lost friends due to DUI crashes over the years. I can understand why West Virginia is stricter in this case than most other states. Yet, the problem is ubiquitous throughout.

As most people know, the USA is the only country with that age limit. UK is 18, Canada is 19. I've always found that odd.

I think the legal age limit should be increased in the UK 🇬🇧

Most people try alcohol in high school. I just wish people wouldn't drink and drive.

It has long since changed but I remember that when I became of drinking age in Ohio they had different degrees of alcohol so they had different adrestrictions for each I think if you were 19 you could drink what they considered 3.2 and if you were 21 you could drink anything it was very odd and confusing

I don't know much about age and drinking laws. If I'm at the home of a friend and take a drink, I'll stay for about an hour before driving. I guess that's my law.

I was born in Texas raised in Pittsburgh pa. So when I visited family in Texas I was always confused why I was allowed to drink even though I was 16 18 whatever until my sister explained it.

I was growing up when they were changing the laws from 18. We never paid any attention to them. I drank at my parent's house if I chose to and never worried about what the state law was.

I personally think it’s crazy that Alcohol is legal where marijuana isn’t. Alcohol is way more dangerous than marijuana on every level imaginable! Seriously WTF???

Interesting about Texas! Personally I thought it was a bit weird that you can vote, or serve in any of the armed forces, but can't buy drink until 21? Studies have proven it's safer, but back home, mainly from parents, the concern was, & probably still is? The 18 year olds go out buying alcohol, makes it easier for the 16 year olds to get their hands on it. I've heard in America youths try to get their hands on other substances because they feel the age limit is too harsh? & it's easier for them to get their hands on other substances because of the age limit. So? Where should the line in the sand be drawn?
