Sir Thomas More was executed on Tower Hill on 6th July 1535 for treason. He had stood against The King’s Great Matter, Henry VIII’s divorce from Catherine of Aragon, and refused to sigh the Act of Supremacy.He also refused to acknowledge Anne Boleyn as queen of England. He was born in Milk Street in London and climbed the ladder in the Tudor court to become Lord Chancellor. However, his friendship with Henry VIII did not save him.
