Thank you so much. I was able to repair my AC for only $22 by replacing the capacitor and your video made it so simple. Both my husband and I are out of work right now and there is absolutely no way we could afford to hire someone considering the last time there was a problem, I think the man charged us $125 just to replace a fuse. Thanks to you again. FYI it took about 20 minutes start to finish.

My AC is working again! Took me just 15 minutes and $18. The wife thinks I'm a god. I'm gonna get lucky tonight :-)

Don't forget to discharge the capacitor an important step left out of this video.

You literally just saved me $8, 000. Thank you.

follow this video step by step and you may very well shock the hell out of yourself. before handling a capacitor, please ALWAYS discharge it. proper way is short the terminals of the cap to each other using a resistor. you can short it directly with screwdriver etc, but that could possibly cause issues.   I usually do it that way I have a resistor in my

Great video. Just replaced mine. Thank you for taking the time to put this on youtube!!
For some reason I did short the terminals with a screwdriver. Maybe something I learned in the past messing with electrical

Good video, but probably should mention to drain the capacitor before handling

Thank you very much for posting this and other videos. You explain the subjects very clearly. Is it possible to replace two single capacitors (a start and a run) with one dual capacitor? I ask this question because I was unable to find a single start cap with 30-33 uF.

You should ground out the old capacitor terminals with a screwdriver to the cabinet of the u it before touching them, some will hold a charge.

Major safety concern in this video. Capacitors need to be discharged. Mishandling a capacitor that has not been discharged is potentially lethal.

And not to mention the fact that on almost every condenser ever made has a wiring diagram right on the back of the cover that tells you exactly where the wires go and the rest is common sense!

Damn I just spent $265 to get this fixed. Lesson learned

Thanks man learning all I can because the service provider is a rip off in my area. They actually took out the trane capacitor and installed a lesser unit..Looked at the Trane parts list and it was indeed the wrong one. They even wedged a stick so the clamp would hold the tiny cap.I refuse to pay for their obvious money trap I called and they said around 400-600$ For a capacitor replacement lol

I would have been willing to go 200-300$ because time is money for contractors and it can be dangerous .I have a 200$ min charge for pressure washing because I still have to get out of bed;) 600 is way to much for what should be about a 10-15 min job.Like I told my wife I am in the wrong business bah even then I wouldn't rip people off like that.
Being a paint contractor I know their is honest contractors and then their is Tri-State heating and air...

Thanks again the internet is a glorious thing!

Be careful you must DISCHARGE the old capacitor before you touch it. He did not show that first. So there are other you tube that show you that the correct way. Be careful of this video. I believe he means well🙂

Might better mention the shock hazard and how to discharge the capaciter first...

This video is great! Saved me a couple hundred bucks :)

I have different color wires, 2 brown wires, a black white wire and a yellow wire. I plugged the two browns in the square capacitor, I plugged the yellow into the bigger capacitor and plugged the black wire do the black box thing..(not sure) ..now my air barely blows..and it blows like a luke warm air

You never told which terminals to hook to on the
new one. WHICH IS WHICH ?

The whole reason I watched this video was
to learn how to properly discharge and
change a capacitor and you totally skipped
that step. I'm still confused here. I know
how to discharge the capacitor if there are
no wires attached but I'm afraid to discharge it with the wires still connected... what if it sparks and fries
some motor or control board because the
wires are still connected? But on the other
hand I don't feel comfortable taking the
wires off of the capacitor with metal needle nose pliers if the thing is still potentially
packing hundreds of volts... how do I safely move forward?

DISCHARGE THE CAPACITOR FIRST. Also, the schematic should be on the cover. Take pictures if you have to.
