Loved the books! All the stuff not covered in the movies are ALL character and story building narratives. I think this HBO series is going to be perfect!

Many literary works have multiple adaptations.

John, you consistently call Rupert Grint, Rupert Gint. Somewhere, Rupert Gint is thinking "Why does John Campea keep talking about me?"

I normally wouldn't say anything, but I think it was John's last HP video talking about how the show got the Succession team where he also omitted the r in Rupert's last name. His last name is in fact Grint, not Gint, lol

The issue is that there is no suspense without changing the story bc we know the outcome. We know who lives and dies and who falls in love as it was addressed in the movies that has a wide audience

All I want from the reboot is that they make Dumbledor's character a true machavalian like he was supposed to be in the books

I'm so looking forward to this series. The films were great and are iconic and always will be. But the books are a lot better, and hopefully, this series will be able to cover far more.

Having said that. I do worry for the actors they cast, especially Harry, Ron & Hermione. That's gonna be hard on kids. Also, Snape, because if the actor is a book accurate Snape. Fans who only watched the movies are in for a big shock.

IMO the only movies that would really benefit from a TV series are Goblet of Fire and Half-Blood Prince. While I still liked those movies they’re the ones that left out many moments I would like to see on screen.

The first three I think are going to be quite difficult to adapt into seasons because the films have almost everything needed in them. While there were some moments left out of Prisoner of Azkaban that could have been included, the movie likely would have only been about 10-15 minutes longer if they had.

Order of the Phoenix is my least favourite book because the story drags a lot and I felt the film did a great job of trimming it down and I fear doing a season would drag the story down again.

While the Deathly Hallows movies did leave out a few things I would have liked to have seen I still think they were well translated to the screen and liked Order of the Phoenix I feel a season would just drag the story down especially in the scenes where it’s just the trio by themselves.

I really think a sequel series would have been a worse idea. The fandom’s gunna find a reason to complain either way, but with a sequel series you run into the “That’s not what I had in mind for them! 😤😤😤😤” crowd too

Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are the 2 franchises that should never be remade. They should just go the Hogwarts Legacy route and write an original protagonist

25 years since the first film is not a lot. The last film released in like 2011. That’s 13 years ago.

Also, the first couple of seasons of the show will struggle to find something new to showcase because the first two movies were very faithful adaptations of the books.

I'm convinced that when Rowling got her first book contact, she was thinking that Harry Potter would look good as a tv series. She never dreamed that it would be become popular enough to go straight to blockbuster big screen adaptations.

I’ve said this before but The problem with adapting every single word on the page is that it won’t make for very exciting TV series, they need to realise what works on the page doesn’t always translate to the screen which is why certain sub plots and characters were dropped from the movie adaptation. Even Peter Jackson realised that with his LOTR adaptations. I don’t think enough time has passed for this “retelling”, the movies are still recent and very well loved and brilliantly cast, the moment they miss out a section of the books or cast the “wrong” actors for roles, they’ll have lost the fans.

A far better idea would be a 5 movie series based on the Marauders at school, alongside the rise of Voldemort, ending with Lilly’s sacrifice and Hagrid dropping off Harry at the Dursleys.

Then adapt Cursed Child stage play into a trilogy of movies, there’s 8 movies there, all with the potential to gross over a billion each at least.

Thats the path Warners should be going down with the HP franchise.

WINKY NATION RISE UP! The movies robbed us of our beloved messy house elf! This wrong will be righted in the show. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The 6th book got chopped up as a movie that will be great expanded outward. The whole riddle story. More quidditch matches. S.P.E.W. can be a thing. All of the extra characters that add layers to it.

This is news? The whole point of the tv series is that it will be with more depth.

Hear me out……. I’d rather they focus the whole series on Harry’s Dad, Sirius, Snape, Lily, and Voldemort ysssir

I can’t wait, movies had to leave a lot out and this will be a new opportunity for fans to rediscover HP. I completely reject the idea that famous films shouldn’t be re made because it could “ruin” the originals. We’ve seen so many remakes and reboots be great to show that’s shortsighted

I agree. The books are way more detailed than the movies, and a TV series will be somewhere in between. And if the TV series turns out to be crap, I'll still have my Blu-rays of the movies.
