Yes! Your suggestions are SO helpful - I love that saying you you either fail to plan or plan to fail. In my early food recovery I brought a Starbucks latte so I could have a healthy treat instead of feeling like I had to join in - which is why telling someone that you are not going to partake IS ESSENTIAL! I love that you give a few choices too. Love your work Amber!

I think it’s important about keeping the truth of addiction in the forefront..instead of acting like there’s no problem anymore or feeling ashamed, you are taking control of your addiction.. thanks amber!!

I agree that you should make a plan of all the positive, healthy, replacement activities you are going to do instead of your previous self destructive loop behaviors.

Very true, connectivity and accountability are major. Even with the pain I'm going through with my accident. I've told the hospital about my prior addiction to pain meds and heroin. Also I'm making calls today to my support group letting them know what's going on with me so they will keep me accountable and can give some mental support. I feel pretty good about asking for help now and I'm so blessed I still have my sobriety and good people around keeping my spirits up. Thanks, great topic!

I agree that your sober friends and loved ones really want to help you out. They just need a specific suggestion on how to support you and your recovery.

Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing this one. I'm saving these for when my son finally decides to go to detox, so I can send them to him.
I'm concerned about his primary reason for going to detox, which is to go to detox versus jail. I wonder if the other reasons (to better his life) will follow once he's in rehab and take priority?
But I'm still saving these and pray for the best outcome 🙏 😊

My recovery plan is to never use the destructive substance again no matter what happens. Recovery "journey" over. This "plan" is much simpler than any addict could ever imagine.

What's your opinion on Antabuse for high risk situations? Especially in when new in recovery.

Hi Amber, a bit off topic here, but is there a way you could address knowing the difference between being an addict and an all out covert narcissist ? ( I do understand these two might go hand in hand due to the addictive behavior ) Just wondering at point do you know there is something deeper then just the addiction itself .

When you're talking about staying healthy, one of the main things she has going on is that she uses alcohol as a mechanism to enable her unhealthy eating disorder. They actively support each other.
