Excellent topic and advice! I'm newly retired after being self employed for the last 27 years. I got the "nudge" to take the leap and become an independent contractor. The first few years were a rollercoaster ride. I then partnered with an ex-colleague to start a consulting company. The next few years were slow, but then came the exponential growth. In hindsight, running my own business required sacrifices, but it was the best career decision I made.

Secondly can LLC own stocks or CDS or can they gamble since an LLC is seen as an Individual person?
