i’ve tried grip builds and i always felt like i was going slower. i started to drift and tbh i prefer it. mastering doing controlling the car is so satisfying and i feel like i have, not as good as Q but i tend to use more JDM cars and they’re more set to drift. everytime i tried to avoid drifting the car would step out so i just decided to use it the way it was set.

Quoise is just a monster. Being able to experience he's speed and seeing him throw such insane lap records first hand is awesome. Glad I was able to meet such a guy. You are a goat trigger for promoting he's drift style. Is an amazing style of driving that does not come easy to master.

Drift builds are pretty fun, I think at the end of the day both sides grip and drift will be equal 👍Winning will depend on skill of driver and optimal build for track

Burst Nos may be one of the greatest nitrous mechanics of all time. And that isn’t easy with games like Ridge Racer or Asphalt.

i was very impressed with how balanced grip and drift builds were in this game from the get-go. i'm not talking about meta, i'm talking about from the perspective of a casual player. it's not easy to make a physics engine where both grip and drift feel fun, and also make it so that one is not clearly faster than the other. it's impressive, and i'm also glad because it means it really is down to the player how they want to set up their car, whatever each person thinks is most fun. you can also make some grip cars and some drfit cars without having to be weary about one or the other groups being slow in races. atleast in single-player.

now to think that, even in online meta, both are viable, i know it wasn't planned by EA to be this way, i'm sure they expected a certain meta build to surface, but it's insane that both are viable.

for a casual player like me who always liked grip, this game feels rewarding with micro drifts and gripping around corners where people lose control and i look slow going around but boost out of the corners. i’ve been playing around with micro drifting certain tracks like The God Hour corner king and i do better with that. This new style of driving looks fast asl but it doesn’t really suit how i’d like to drive it seems way too much like asphalt but it does look hella tough to compete with

quoise is just insane, managing to beat some of the fastest players in the game with setups that are out of the presumed "meta" is quite an achievement

Also I think a big thing is drifting allows you to keep more speed in general but of course grip is more Nas, so I agree it’s very map and car dependent. The best overall builds will be the ones that can take advantage of both mechanics well

A good bit of what I get from this is "Good drivers can make both types of builds work but drift builds have very weird tricks and nuances"

This is something I've been practicing in my R34 for a bit now but never knew how I was actually doing it. Thanks for the breakdown

The timing of this vid is impeccable. I love the Dodge Charger station wagon that i got from the campaign, but couldn't find a viable race build for it because the maximum of grip it can get to is 40%. So just a few days ago i said fuck it, made a A class 100% drift build and raced with it anyway. Surprisingly it worked wonderfully. The car has decent amount of power and burst NOS can be generated at will just by steering hard enough. I was bullying Lotus players with it and now it's my favorite car to drive in A class.

Before seeing this video i never thought drift builds would be viable above A class. Now i am more eager than ever to watch how the meta for this game develops, as it seems like in Unbound, both grip racing and drift racing have depth and competitiveness, making the choice between them far more meaningful and interesting than any other B2D NFS.

Since NFS Payback I’ve been driving my cars with a drift style. However not as fast as these guys. In NFS HEAT, I kept the same style and it would allow me to catch up to faster RSR drivers because I could literally power slide through a turn at 135mph or faster depending on the turn, while the RSR would grip and drop speed to 98-113mph. I noticed that the Golf you built drives the same way when you double tap the gas and you get Drift & Grip bonus in most turns.

This was really interesting. Thanks man, I'm definitely going to go experiment and try this out for myself.

I thought my 1:20 was fast on Shopping Spree with my M3 GTR. This guy is on another level.

This reminds me back when split second meta changed from fast grippy cars to the firestorm ryback that just dominated from drifting everywhere with its weight shif balancing

U should revisit the viper. It is super easy to control with drift builds bc for some reason it has this feeling of grip that doesn't go away no matter what u do to the handling allowing u to do this quite easily. Even on max drift it doesn't spin much at all if any on launch which I found very interesting. It quickly became on my fav cars for this unique handling feeling. Amazing video as always

This vid made me feel good. I felt like something like this was possible but I am not nearly practiced enough to do it. I always thought bursting mid turn had potential. Cool to see the idea in my head could work.

Q's drifting is sooo minimal and his lines and sooo optimal that he basically loses no speed when cornering, which is freaking insane

You can still use burs nos around corners on grip builds it just comes down to throttle control
