Homo Habilis Escaped Africa 3 Million Years Ago?

A lot of people believe that humans didn't leave Africa until about 100,000 years ago, but is that really the case? In this video, we're going to explore the evidence and see if humans (homo habilis) have been on the Eurasian continent for longer than we've been told. So whether you're convinced humans actually left Africa 3 million years ago, or you're still convinced they didn't, let's discuss it in this video!

We'll be looking at archaeological evidence, genetic evidence, and anything else that might support or disprove the theory that humans have been in Africa for over 3 million years. It's an interesting and controversial topic, so be sure to watch this video to find out the answers!

The main, nearly only reason, for thinking that humans and their relatives originated in Africa is because that's where the fossils have been found. The conditions under which fossils are formed, where bones and such may be preserved, are actually rare. There could easily have been hominins/hominids over much of Europe and northern Asia before and between the last few glaciations. There remains wouldn't have been fossilized and those that did would have been ground to dust by glaciers.

Ancient pre-humans had no idea what continent they lived on. Given the dramatic ebb and flow of climatic conditions over a couple of million years, I think it's highly likely there was some bidirectional flow of genes out of and into Africa. That doesn't completely disprove the "out of Africa" theory since the greatest majority of human evolution seems to have occurred there but it does suggest that it was more complicated than once thought.

I always look for precedents. I think that if we had enough data it might prove that the hominins and hominids behaved exactly like their ancestors, the Miocene apes, who dispersed out of Africa throughout Eurasia around 16-14mya and then moved continuously back and forth, in and out of Africa. The Saharan pump phenomena and periodic near-eastern droughts may have been the cause of this behavior. Currently, we are trying to identify an elephant through a knot-hole in the fence of time.

Lord, I was born a ramblin' hominim
Tryin' to hunt 'n gather and doin' the best I kin
And when it's time for migratin'
I hope you'll comprehend
Lord, I was born a ramblin' hominim
Well, my daddy is a fossil down in Georgia
And he wound up on the wrong end of a club
And I was born in a damp cave in the Caucasus
Just another hairless cub

I believe that Austrolopithacines migrated out of Africa over 2 million years ago and into Asia and that Australia Aborigines evolved in situ in South East Asia.

So, this could explain why H. Floresiensis exist, isn't it? now we need to try to find some fossiles along the way this abilish creature took from africa to indonesia. and understand how they sailed to flores island (it sounds like there was not continuous land between flores and the continent)

Marginal note only: The assemblage of fossil hominids from Dmanisi could belong to the evolutionary stage preceding Homo ergaster species, and gave rise Homo erectus somewhere in Asia. Homo naledi is much younger species, probably some evolutionary relics of the lineage splitting from the common ancestor of Homo habilis and Homo ergaster in Africa, combining very ancient and advanced traits.

I have for decades said the out of Africa theory for all of mankind makes no sense. I also think that we haven't looked deep enough in the Americas for older hominids as well. Do not forget the likelihood that some also developed within earth and more Involved too.

"Homo habilis was the first genuine toolmaker."

Evidence of stone toolmaking in the Eastern Subsahara predates Homo by about 1, 000, 000 years. Thus, Australopithecus afarensis is the likely first hominan species known to be a stone toolmaker.

As a hominin, hairless ape, and a great ape simian, I recognize Africa as the land of my fore fathers and fore mothers (here's looking at you grandma from a 100, 000 generations back). It makes me warm and fuzzy thinking of my distant ancestors....but the origin of Homo Sapiens is much more complex than any of us believe. At the end of the day, it doesn't make a difference as we are all Human and all from the same heritage.

Excellent presentation and at what point does hypothesis become supported sufficiently to become theory? From theory to accepted facts? This path is being well laid out here. Well done!

My first question is about Toba. Would mankind have survived the eruption in much of Asia? Any of Asia?

Well done!!! It would be highly interesting to speculate on when H. Floresiensis and Java Man first arrived as their fossils only show when they inhabited the region. It's obvious considerable European admixing occurred with African populations based on the presence of Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA.

What has always bothered me and not one person of any field of study has been able to explain is how would evolution occur in an isolated species? Would new DNA not have to be introduced for evolution to happen? I have not ever herd of spontaneous evolution or DNA mutation creating a new species. So other than inter species breeding how can evolution occur? This implies any species evolving out of Africa would have had to meet up with a new species who was not in Africa. I speculate it has never been addressed for the simple fact it would render all previously held theory's to be mostly wrong. If not totally wrong.

Africa is NOT the cradle of all Homo sapiens. The "Out of Africa" idea is just a myth.
