Among a number of things I'd like to thank Mr Lynch for, there's one that's rather personal: years ago, a girl I had met some days before asked me to show her a movie. I didn't know much about her, but I chose Eraserhead. I thought "If she likes it, we could talk together about interesting things for a long time." She liked it. Some years later we got married. We still talk every day.

It's painful to lose a great artist. The world needs them. David Lynch was 1 of 1, a true original. There was no one else like him as far as vision and voice; he created his own genre. RIP David Lynch

They are two of the most effective directors at conveying emotion through framing and sound I've ever seen. David should be looked at in the same vein as all the other greats. Very few filmmakers were as incredible as he.
