Volume Automation on Vocals (the RIGHT way) | PRO VOCALS in GarageBand (Pt 6)

Once you have dialed in your vocal EQ and compression, it is time to add some reverb and delay. But you don't just want to slap on some reverb and call it a day. That's the fastest way to ruin your vocal sound. If you want your vocal to sound upfront, you need to be SUBTLE with your effects. Hello again Colin! Coming back to this video after 10 months! Am currently working on a song and I had to revisit all your videos for Pro vocals! BTW, I have enjoyed automating the various parameters in the Fetish compressor...playing about with the features and hearing what effect it causes upon the vocals. This, to me, is a nice way to learn what each parameter does. I tried tweaking at the attack, release, and output values and was able to improve the clarity and volume levels of the vocal track. First time I am doing this but I feel this will be my 'go to method' of getting the compressor settings right!

A very good point you made is leaving automation to late stage of the mix, too early and it's very frustrating when one needs to get the level of the automated track up or down in the mix.

SOS. My main vocal mutes every time I pause, but only when the automation is on. If I turn it off it doesn't happen, but then automation turns off. HALP
