Opacity vs Fill Opacity vs Layer Fill EXPLAINED (Affinity Photo vs Photoshop)

In this video i will explain the difference between Opacity and Fill Opacity in Affinity Photo. We will take a quick look how a layer is set up which will explain how they are implemented.

More importantly, i will also touch the subject of Layer Fill used in Photoshop and how this can be applied in Affinity Photo.

Fascinating technical analysis and explanation of the obscure Fill Layer behaviors in Photoshop and how to recreate them in Affinity Photo. I had to watch this three times to fully grasp it.

Having said that, unless one is trying to reproduce an effect seen in Photoshop, I wonder what the practical application of this is. If having these special blend modes in Affinity Photo is useful and necessary in some applications, perhaps Serif should surface them in a contextual UI as you said, rather than forcing users to reverse engineer the Adobe behavior.

By the way, how did you discover the "neutral" for each of the 8 special blend modes? Did you apply each of the blend modes to a layer with a black to white gradient?
