It’s so true how grateful you feel when the instructor finally says to move into downward dog lol it really becomes a resting pose.

I really like how you point out how to find movement instead of static in the pose, to find joy in it.

Through the practice of yoga, you can learn to focus on the present moment and let go of worries about the past and future. It's like a moving meditation that can leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Thanks for the instructions.

I really used to hate this posture so much when I first started several months ago. My shoulders and wrists screamed everytime. But I fell in love with the transition of curling my toes under and lifting my hips up high. That's what did it. Steady practice made my shoulders and wrists stronger. I don't need a man to open a pickle jar for me anymore!

I actually enjoy Adriene's yoga tutorial videos! Perhaps she makes me feel happy and energetic with her fun and quirky personality. Because most of the yogis I found on YouTube or I met in real life all sound very deliberately elegant and soft? And they make me feel a bit of pressure as if I don't belong here if I get excited and having big smile on my face. I don't know how to explain that and I'm not sure if this even makes sense to anyone. But the point is Adriene makes yoga fun and relatable again!

2 years in and downward dog is still a learning point for me. Thank you for a wonderful step by step refresher on really how to enjoy and embrace the posture.

Today was the first time I actually felt what it feels like to externally rotate the shoulders. It was such a small, subtle moment, but immediately after I did it I went WOOOWWW, so this is it! I love Downward dog, it's such a grounding posture that makes you feel strong and confident, and there's so many variations and details about posture so getting into it always feels new!

My wrists and shoulders used to shake and give a burning feeling when i first tried this pose out.I couldn't hold the pose for long at all.But i kept doing and believe me guys this pose is one of the best.I feel so much stable in my palms, wrists and shoulders and feel a lot space to move around and can hold the pose for long comfortably.Thank you so much Adriene for these beautiful, enjoyable, detailed videos made with love.I fell in love with Yoga because of you.Sending lots of love.May you be happy, healthy and blessed!

1 of 2~ Yes, my friend, hasta bandha or the hand lock is vital and will help! This lock is like a suction cup image- grounding down through all parts of the hand but then drawing energy up, like straws through the arms and engaging the body. Integration! To ground, press into all knuckle joints! Spread hands wide and have fingerprints firm.

OMG!!!! I can’t thank you enough for this — This is exactly how I’ve felt comfortable in my downward dog, with all that movement. I’ve always thought I was doing something wrong “by professional yoga standards” even though it felt “right” to my body. Thank you for your reassurance and support!!

You are just wonderful. Sometimes it's good to go back to the child's mind and learn from the base of basic postures to avoid injury. I find too many people doing basic postures without actually feeling them and searching what feels nice and why that pose is there!
