Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace is a 1999 action-adventure role playing video game released by LucasArts and based on the film of the same title. The game is set in several different settings seen within the film, and contains heavy RPG elements alongside its largely adventurous action-oriented game world. More open-ended than the majority of 3D games at the time, the project was notably innovative for its decade. The game is set during the timeline of the film, with players taking on the role of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and several other characters from the film. Each playable character has a unique weapon and ability. The game features open environments to explore at the player's leisure, and dozens of non-player characters with unique dialog.

The game was a commercial success, selling over 337,866 copies of the Windows version alone by 2000. The game received praise for its role-playing-style gameplay, appealing graphics, and story, however, criticisms for its camera angles and voice acting were prevalent. (Source: Wikipedia)

This game brings me so much nostalgia from being a kid. I’m early 30s now and it’s surreal to think it’s only 4 hours long. Back when we were kids the game seemed never ending

The Tatooine level to me is the ultimate nostalgia. As soon as we'd arrive at Mos Espa, my brother and I would explore every nook and cranny, every rooftop and back alleyway, to find where we would have our "base". I don't think we would even play the story when we got to this part. We'd just walk around slowly, watching the hustle and bustle of the town, pretending to be one of the people living there.

This game will always have a special place in my heart, my bro was undergoing chemo therapy and we played it together.

It's not just the feelings you get from this game... it's that feeling of knowing life will never be the way it was, ever again.

Me and my brother only ever played the demo of this game, we used to play it over and over, strange how 10minutes of demo gameplay can make such an impression on my memory 20 years later.

A simpler time for sure

That opening scene, I knew it word for word, what a game this was

Classic, one of the best PS1 games in my opinion. That Tatooine level in particular, years ahead of its time with how much content it has

This was AS GOOD AS IT GETS for a young man at the time. You either found it boring or you gloriously walked around Mos Eisley for weeks taking in the conversations and people. It set the stage for *KOTOR* a few years later which is still my favorite game.

Didnt love the movie but this game was like a simulator for me

"I’m looking for a T-14 Hyperdrive generator" is the first thing that came to my mind after seeing the thumbnail for this 😂

I absolutely LOVED this game as a kid!

Jake Lloyd provided his voice for young Anakin in this game and many others . Poor guy never deserved any of the hate he got, I hope he’s doing well now after going through so much .

The whole Tatooine portion of this game might be one of the first action RPG vibes of it's time. the dialogue was epic!

What I loved about this game is the scale and how complete it is. It has all the set pieces from the movie and story in itself.

I think this game was one of the first to choose different dialogues!!! This definitely one my favorite Star Wars games ever. I loved being a serial killer in Tatooine so much fun.

I remember being nine years old playing this game with my cousins late at night which was like 10 PM lol. We had our snacks and sodas. I’ve been a Star Wars fan ever since

Everything about that first level is so nostalgic to me. The route, the combat, the sound effects, the dialogue and the music.

The Tatooine level was my first experience in open world game where I could talk to the people watch people go about their business. I was so intrigued by it. I thought it would be amazing to have a whole game like that. I keep this game for that reason alone.

This is the most unintentionally funny Game I've ever played. It's hilarious, because you can go full rampage in every stage and just kill everyone on screen. Even Anakin is no nogo. You can just continue playing, even though you can't end the stage. The cheats just adds it up.
