My First UberEats Shop & Pay Order - How it Went

Hello Gig Economy Independent Contractors,

I did my first UberEats shop and pay order! Check out the video to see how it went. Are these orders worth it? How do they compare to Cornershop? I’m hoping that UberEats brings good features from the Cornershop app into the UberEats app when they merge later next month.

I had to contact UberEats customer support a couple of times concerning this order. I’ll find out today if I need to call them again. I would like to get paid for my work.

I did my first UE Shop order last night (3 items, 5 miles) with final payout of $30.58, just to show the opposite end of the spectrum. And all went smoothly. I got lucky. lol

I had a McDonald’s delivery that was only a packet of bbq sauce. I got to the community to deliver and texted the customer for a gate code. Immediately after I got a call from Uber support telling me I received complaints about missing items and damaged merch. They had me log off and back on again and said they could see I had a high rating and realize people make false statements. I told them about the strange order and asked if that had anything to do with it. They said “no” and to just throw the packet of bbq sauce away, I didn’t need to deliver it. I still wonder if they were setting me up just to see if I would deliver such an item.

I'm going to try out shop and pay. I spoke against it at first but if the pay is worth it then I'll try it. Might be a gas saver

Spark shop in pay orders are a lot easier than Uber eats trust me I've done both spark gives you the number the aisle the section it takes you right to it Uber you have to search and if you don't know the store very well it gets a little hard

News flash! It's been the required 48 hours and Uber is paying me a total of $15 for this order. The delivery estimate was $19.52. I received $4 for my time Tuesday and then they closed me out with another $11 (their maximum system limitation). $15 for 45 minutes of work is ok except UberEats has wasted far more of my time just trying to get paid. The good news for me and not for you (unless you live in California) is that due to Prop 22 I should receive more money for this order since I was active for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I know I may come across as complaining but almost EVERY TIME I have to contact Uber customer support it is extremely difficult and unproductive. That's life, time to get back on the app and make more money... Russ

How do you take a picture of the entire receipt if it is a long receipt?

Uber support is useless, I’ve called twice and both times there has been a bit of a language barrier to where the Uber support member wasn’t understanding my problem. I don’t even bother at all any more.

So is there a balance with the plus card? I’m just confused about it. So if I do a shop and pay and pay with the card that doesn’t come out of my pocket in anyway right? I don’t have to pay it back like a credit card?

When I order and pay at restaurants it never works with my plus card, so I always have to cancel that order. Because it prompts you to pay to get reimbursed but I don't have that type of money.

I paid for an order one time, and thats cause it was late and my customer seemed anxious to get their order, even though they new that it wasn't going through on my end. Order and pay is a big setup.

Shop and pay was the only thing that worked for me.

You said the time stamp on the phone. Is that an automatic when using Uber app? And door dash etc..?

I started shop and pay order but my plus card was not working on that time then i paid payment by my credit card for all items so when will i get my amount back
