“Our House Is on Fire”: Activists Urge G7 to Address Climate, Vaccine Apartheid & Poverty

As world leaders gather for the first in-person G7 summit in two years, talks are set to focus heavily on ending the pandemic and the climate crisis, and climate activists are calling on them for more immediate action. “It’s not just one crisis,” says Asad Rehman, executive director of War on Want and spokesperson for the COP26 Climate Coalition. “What we’ve seen is simply rich countries doing too little too late and not taking up their responsibility, and unfortunately this G7 has not changed that at all.”

Russia and China have already been donating vaccines to poorer countries around the world. Therefore, the attachment is that America is trying to draw attention to itself in that they are somehow exceptional for what other nations take for granted what their responsibility to humankind is.

Somewhat ironic that one of the items mentioned is access to universal healthcare, especially by a low estimate 26, 000 died in 2020 in this country because they did not have health insurance and not included in this figure are those who had health insurance but couldn't afford the high deductible.
