A little boy is being hailed a hero after discovering his house was on fire and alerting his family to run to safety. Tristan Cook, 9, was watching TV with his siblings when he smelled smoke. He got up, opened the door to the den and saw that the room was in flames. Tristan leaped into action and ran to the other room to alert his mom of the fire. The frantic moments were captured on a Ring camera. “Everyone came out unscathed,” Tristan’s mom, Tracey, told Inside Edition.

That little boy was truely a hero! But always remember, if you smell smoke, before opening any door, touch it to make sure it's not warm. If it is, exit the area and call for help. *Do not open the door.*
(I'm a nurse and learned that year after year in fire training)

The girl running away on her undies in a hoverboard is an absolute mood. Glad they're all safe. The boy's a hero, even if some say it's a ''simple'', ''normal'' or ''common-sense'' deed. It makes sense that the mom gets teary eyed talking about it.

I’m sorry but the girl who rode out on their hoverboard is an absolute badass. Looks completely unfazed lmao. Also props to the little dude for saving his family.

Wow, despite his mom wanting to ignore him, he was so diligent to stick with it and just repeatingly adressed her.

this has me in tears.. The mom kept talking past her eldest son screaming “fire” several times. that experience can also be very traumatizing for children. therefore, i’m glad they’re all safe…

The urgency came naturally, however the fact that he smelt smoke and decided to go check shows that he cared for his family.

I had a fire about 18 years ago. No joke, but my cat saved me. He started freaking out and I woke up to see smoke coming under the door. I'll never forget how fast that fire spread. I got the cat out, locked him in the car, and tried to go back in to get my coat and boots but it was impossible. I made it half was up the stairs and could see the kitchen was fully engulfed in flames and full of the darkest smoke imaginable. I had just ran through there less than 2 minutes prior. If I hadn't had a cat, I might not have made it out of there. This kid did good, but to anyone else who finds themselves in this situation, close the door so the fire can't spread as quickly.
