Different Types of Zinc | Best Zinc | Dr. J9 Live
In this video Dr. Janine talks about the different types of zinc and the best zinc to take. She talks about zinc gluconate as the most common form of zinc, but explains how it usually contains fillers and can cause stomach aches. She looks at zinc sulfate, that needs a lot of stomach acid to be absorbed and can also lead to stomach upset. She mentions zinc oxide that is typically used for sun protections but can used in supplements and also requires a lot of stomach acid to be absorbed. Lastly, Dr. Janine shares her favourite form of zinc – zinc bisglycinate that does not compete for absorption with other minerals in the intestinal tract, nor does it require high levels of acid. She also looks at how zinc does need an ionophore like quercetin for best absorption, and should be taken with a little bit of copper.
